Bad Managers

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 5 years

ProsAmdocs is good company as this is world leader in telcom billing. Working here, if lucky and get good exposure then it's a learning for you and specially if you are capable to make yourself free from the 95% garbage work (no learning/monotonous repetitive work not giving any broad picture) which happens to be a lot here.

Onsite opportunities with conditions:- it depends on ur luck to get the onsite opportuniy some get in 1 year some don't get in 10 years even following dedicatedly.

Cons1. very bad management.
2. very poor indian style planning. the management includes weekends in their plan in all projects.
3. Even though you will propose managers that I would work 3 hours extra per day, 5 Days please make my weeked free. they simply reject as due to poor indian management brain.
They are very greedy and always want more, doesn't matter how much you give them. As a result resource in project goes 1 hrs in lunch .5 hrs in Tea, 1 hours in pantry and 10 minutes walk from the 12 hr they report too. That's mandatory as anyway even you seriously work and give more in weekdays they are going to ask you to work in weekends without a single penny extra.
4. mangers don't have to work excpet chasing and calling employees day night.
5. very poor apprisal system. technically strong and weak people get same salary hike as a result every year technically strong people leave.
6. lot of buttering and favorism.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe only problem is ass hole managers. The managers in India are not worth their posts. They like buttering and persons who just says yes yes and does nothing. They are moron and smotionally fool. As a result technically strong people who are responsible for the project success eaither get the same salary than a non effective team mates or get even some time lesser. I think they don't know the meaning and importance of the appraisal. I want to ask Insraelee management please fire some managers from India, specially from top.

Good for those who really dont work for learning but for earning

Please consider that these things cant give work satisfaction as the work is really bad

Worst mistake to join this company

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than a year

ProsWork culture, Cab, Learning environment, and you get the chance to know about Telecommunications.
You don't have to go to your home as there will be no holidays/vacations.
They should sell this company to someone like AT&T and distribute money to employees.

ConsSalary Way lower than standards. like 1/3 of what other good companies pay.(India Only)
Senior Management doesn't know anything about managing employees.(Only Applicable to India)
No chance of vertical growth
No work life balance, they make you work like slaves.
I never did any serious programming even if my job description said so.
People always keep talking in Hindi.
There are no Incentives/bonuses.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't talk to programmers. OR Don't talk to programmers.

Good for few Bad for Many

Prosif you looking for a opportunity in a good service sector company then amdocs is the place for you.

Constoo much biased no matter how much hard work you put in opportunities goes to only few people . israeli domination at peeks and gujju favorism at heights ( atleast in my division).if you are from premier colleges of india never look at amdocs you deserve more than this (personal exp ).they say it as product based company but not completely true .

Advice to Senior ManagementIndian management is worst they are very much biased especially for onsite opportunities .in two years of my experience i saw a paradigm shift in recruitment process they are doing mass recruitment with lesser pay as done in other service sector companies but work here is not same as other companies , its a legacy system and needs experienced people

Poor management ( review is for GSSI )

I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than a year

Pros1) Good benefits like food, snacks, no dress code, good transport facilities, internet reimbursement ( not for all), etc.
2) BSC/BCA are hired and paid almost on par with BE/B.Tech. Very good organization for them to be in.
3) Chilled work environment + very nice locality of Magarpatta
4) Lot of travel opportunities but only if you are in right project.

Cons1) Growth depends on luck and how much you can suck up to higher management, skills are not really a matter since no ground breaking work happens in any department.
2) Lot of managers hired from other organizations in GSS has pretty much ruined it. GSS work culture has deviated a lot compared to other departments ( PBG, Delivery ).
3) Rating system is unidirectional and manager closes it after discussion, after that no way to discuss points or object the increment. Generally higher rating are given to those who management decide to promote. Skills and work are secondary.
4) B.E./ B.Tech are paid poorly and on par with less technical work in operations, etc by people hired from BSC/BCA background.
5) If you do not want to work in project and are locked in, management will happily let you leave the organization rather than giving chance to find other project.

Advice to Senior Management1) Try to retain good people.
2) It's more important that skilled people stay in organization rather than working under you only.

Just another IT company .

Cons+No work -life balance (Not good for person with family)
+Have attended many a times graveyard shift
+Managers are just experienced managers(just because they have 8-10 yrs of work ex ) and they have really bad at management

Amdocs is a good place to work for political people and not for the people who are technically good and smart .

ProsThe company has relocation opportunities. Learning opportunities in telecom business. Since Amdocs is world leader in Telecom Billing Products than it's good to have latest business knowledge. Freedom to wear informal.

ConsSince cutting edge technical knowledge is something which is missing in Amdocs in India Center, so working in Amdocs can't land you in anywhere but Amdocs. There has been greedy managers who only thinks about themselves they take SME, SSME and GLs as a slave. They don't give recognition to employees who shows innovation, creativity, team playing and delivery qualities. They only look for who is more visible, conforming to them (actually just showing but doing nothing) and politically good candidates. The company looks like me as in Indian Democracy where there is no place for the smart and hardworking people and only politics and Political people are getting benefits. I have personally saw many instances where political candidates got the promotions and good hardworking guys were asked to leave because they wanted to get some good work and better treatment. The bad people are like a cancer cells and it's actually eating Amdocs. It;s has spread Amdocs badly and 80% of Amdocs is filled with it. Amdocs India, failed to deliver some important projects because of these recently.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease give importance to Good and Hardworking people. There are guys who works hard, works late hours and come in weekends and you don't give them anything. You give promotions to people who do flattering. Please stop it. Please give the compensation to the people in proportions of their hard work to fetch the revenue. Please give at least 50% more salary to the key people so that they don't get frustrated when they compare the ratio of money vs contribution. Don't choose a good people from the prestigious institutes e.g NIT/REC etc.. and put him in Infra, Triage, Testing etc. teams. Good candidates deserve to be in scoping, designing. Please create a different team for the scoping and designing, and get the regular donkey work to be performed by avg and below avg people you can hire non engineering candidates for them. Please don't do the politics, at town hall you say we care and at the behind you say to come on weekends. Please take care of your best employees else there will be a day when a good and strong manager would have to be forced to clean you all to save Amdocs India. But what's the use of saying all that you don't have even basis IQ as you are the part of cancer affected bad cells.

I have been working at Amdocs

ProsIf you need a one time high increment, yes, then you can change your company and join Amdocs. Here too, you will get free snacks and breakfast.

ConsThis is the worst company I ever found in my career.
If there is no work, they simply fire the candidate. There is no bench system.
I joined just 3 months back and now they asked me to leave company as there is no project and look a job outside.
There is also another guy who worked for more than 4 years on Billings and now he is also getting fired. They is no values for the resources in Amdocs.
There is lot of projects now freezed. They hire the guy but don't know where to put and they simply fire them.
My request is don't join this company for money.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you don't have project, why do you hire candidates like me?
Don't play with careers of people. You don't care of the people who work in Amdocs.
