    Pros

The insurance, 401k, and other benefits are competitive. The people you'll work with are generally a good group of people and very knowledgeable. 12 hour shifts.

    Cons

The management you'll work for can be difficult at times, very reactive not proactive, work loads can fluctuate so it's difficult on contractors. When you get there you'll need to hit the ground running. Slow people, prior government contractors, or new to aviation grads beware, if you don't find a fast paced rhythm and good mechanical aptitude quickly, you won't last long. 12 hour shifts.

    Advice to Management

After seeing the tides of this business for so long, project the coming storm, especially for parts, tooling, and manpower.

    Pros

Nice projects. People are easily available when needed. They are always available when needed. There is a lot of opportunity for improvements.

    Cons

Due to the hierarchy of Bombardier, there is a lot of meetings and reviews for each project. The agenda is very quickly fielded. Also, priorities are changing easily. Need to be very flexible.Lot of approval processes that bring delays.

    Advice to Management

Since there is no Project Management Office, there is no more standard for the project management practice. Biombardier would get a lot of benefit putting in place a new PMO.

    Cons

Bureaucracy as usual for a multinational.

    Pros

I worked for BA for 25 years. The culture went from one of confrontation and mistrust to collaboration and respect. The work is challenging and very rewarding. The people are fun to work with. There are many opportunities to discover your true passion.

    Cons

The company struggles with financial issues that sometimes results in layoffs. Aerospace is a very feast or famine industry

    Advice to Management

Look for more innovative ways to retain staff during periods of financial restraint - your employees are you engine for success.

    Pros

Awesome benefits! Night shift not good on the family life. Training limited for store clerks. Your partner can make or break you, depends on who you are working with each night. There are some awesome people there to work with and some not so awesome. Overall a good experience, I was there four years and learned a lot from fellow workers.

    Cons

No where to move up. Good time off, holidays are tough to work around because everyone wants to be off before and after a holiday. Bombardier is a 7 day, 24 hour facility, so that means you could work on a major holiday if a plane is pushing, you will not know if you are going to have off up until the last minute in some cases. Hard to plan a life with all that going on. Not a whole lot of information being shared, to many to do lists being passed down to night shift.

    Advice to Management

If we really have a say in what direction we are going, why not ask what we think and how we should get there since we are the ones doing the job. We could give you real time answers instead of just someone sitting behind a desk who does not have a clue as to what the job really entails. Make everyone be a team player or they need to go, could be an awesome place to work if everyone stepped up and did their fair share.

    Pros

Abundant opportunities for growth and change
Opportunities for advancement (too a degree)

    Cons

HR is limited in selecting the right people to join and/or lead us
Poor / slow marketing, product development

    Advice to Management

we need to become humble and hungry again, as we were in the 1990s... we are too arrogant to see how we ourselves have contributed tot he state we are in today.

    Pros

Great company with many great people. The projects are really interesting. Good benefits as well : you start with 3 weeks of vacation plus more benefits.

    Cons

IT is a little rusty and could be a little more organized. Teams are using several old ad-hoc custom-made software. Newer airplane projects look better organized though and even use robots for assembly.

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities at Bombardier Aerospace if you lookout for them. I ended up in the IT department and it was big enough to even move within it. Its big size allows to make many friends and contacts.

    Cons

Some projects are very heavy: in particular when submitting them at first to get approval. Aerospace has its ups and down: get ready to go through both hiring and downsizing periods.
