I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Team oriented feel, I felt valued and trusted in my role, was promoted after 2.5 years which was great. I really made lots of friends through work, they promoted networking and team building events. Good work/life balance and summer hours were a nice perk. The cafeteria is also pleasant with new, healthier offerings. I gained a lot of good work experience at Campbell's.

    Cons

Change in management yeilded numerous lay offs and changes in how valuable my group was.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Generous compensation and people are very friendly. Nice gym and cafeteria, opportunities for advancement. Can also switch departments as needed, although will need support of your manager.

    Cons

Being a younger professional in an environment where most have their MBAs and children can be challenging. Harder to initially relate to some people, but overall a good place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Great pay
    - Good benefits
    - Nice headquarters
    - Family oriented w/ the work life balance that comes along with it
    - Strong corporate culture w/ emphasis on relationships

    Cons

While this is a great place to work, we do play in many mature but declining categories. It can get discouraging to see red numbers on a page when you know you are working your butt off.

Also this is very much an old boys' network. America is changing, folks. Hire people who represent the diverse landscape of our country & give them to the support they need to move up through the ranks. Promote based on performance!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

DIVERSIFY! People aren't buying soup like they used to. I know we're trying with innovation but let's accelerate our acquisition rate and get into some spaces that are on-trend w/ long term viability!

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits (health, dental, matching 401K 100% up to 4%), friendly working environment, work/life balance, training, and commitment to community service. Management supports career growth and development. Free soup Fridays and random free food can be found frequently. Discounted Godiva chocolates, Pepperidge Farm cookies, and other products at the company store. Building had been in process of updating and creating new modern office areas.

    Cons

Systems and tools to do job are lacking/unreliable. Company seems to reorganize like every 2 years, which often accompanies layoffs. I've seen many people who have worked there more than 20 years get laid off from reorganizations. Upper management constantly making changes that create a lot of grind.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider how your actions affect all the people that work below you.

    Cons

Evaluation system for performance is flawed

No where to go that is close by for lunch

    Pros

Great company for training and building your career when starting out. Gain valuable experience from a top notch CPG company. From a sales perspective, the insights and resources available far exceed other food companies.

Senior management needs to focus on culture and engagement to drive retention.

Former Employee - Intern in Camden, NJ (US)

I worked at Campbell Soup Company as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Benefits are usually very good, they allow for an open environment to work and discuss with your coworkers and the culture is generally very friendly. Also, there is quite a bit a diversity in age groups and gender.

    Cons

There is not much racial diversity among the employees and sometimes the upper management is too personal. Although you will enjoy how personal they are, sometimes they call for meetings that could have easily been conducted over the phone or through email, making work less efficient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find more efficient ways to communicate needs to other employees.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company as a contractor

    Pros

People in the organization are dedicated to their roles and accomplishing their assignments. As a contractor, I saw a level of dedication unprecedented elsewhere. Great work-life balance program as work from home and taking care of self is encouraged. Supportive during times of personal need.

    Cons

As the company makes adjustments to meet changing business landscapes it has meant more work with fewer resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider modifying work load to match resource availability to reduce risk of burn out and stress.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company

    Pros

    - Great team of people: very intelligent, great pedigree
     - Had the opportunity to learn and grow
     - Worked very hard and was rewarded with recognition and promotions
     -

    Cons

    - Meeting culture: Expect to be booked from morning till evening. I brought work home with me and worked very long hours outside of the office
     - Lack of decision making: They are trying to change this, but this is a cultural issue and will take time
     - Reorganizations annually, if not more.... difficult to get traction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set the course and stay on it. Whether it be DAI, Engagement, whatever the new process or policy or innovation.... stick to something and see if it actually works.
