I worked at Cyberonics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The salary is okay. The Bonus payout at goal is ungodly!!!!! At goal, you could expect to total bonus payout to increase your earnings by $200,000 minimum. Top reps with high volume territories are making $300,000 or more in bonus alone.

    Cons

It is absolutely cut throat company. They could not care less about patients and what is the right thing to do. They only care that they continuously hit the goal. And, if you are a woman, watch out. Not female friendly company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your reps are overpaid for what they do. The result, an overly expensive product and shady sales practices.

    Cons

way too much politics for a company with only 1 product; people were tied laced

It is a very bad career choice and regret moving here. Now I am stuck here for two years or must re-pay 100% of the Relo

I have been working at Cyberonics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay is competitive. there are no pros to mention. Oh wait, they do have a nice fitness room.
CEO is very charismatic and gives great speeches to rally the team.

    Cons

Poor direct management. No experience in new product development.
If you accept a relocation package, you have to repay 100% if you leave before two years (I really made a mistake moving here!)
No sense of teamwork--I feel like an outsider.
My role is not what I expected and does not match the job description I interviewed for. I brought this up with management and in a nice way was told--"tough sh!t".
You are micro-managed by non technical managers that do not have a clue what your tasks are.
All projects are years behind schedule and over budget due to poor planning by management.
Stock price is grossly overpriced waiting for the bottom to fall out.
The medical benefits are mediocre and quite expensive.
Houston is a terrible place to live unless you like hot humid weather.
    No room for career growth.
Relies on contractors for new product development. No in house experts in anything. If there are, management does not believe them and gets second onions from consultants and contractors...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Product development is lacking experienced professionals.
Quality is lacking at all levels.
    Products are not innovative.
Running to Costa Rica for cheap manufacturing is not the answer.

I worked at Cyberonics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I actually did not see any pros when I worked there; management do not put their money where their mouth is.

    Cons

An absolute sweat shop; the senior management is pocketing tons of cash while exploiting employees; they mostly pray on foreign visa workers to get the cash machine going for Dan and senior management,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Cyberonics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great pay, passion for therapy

    Cons

Mediocre health & dental benefits, poor training, co-worker & mgr were negative & often undermining towards me. I was 4th person in my role & I resigned due to toxic atmosohere. The previous 3 people in my role were reportedly fired, none of them lasted longer than 1yr and all of us worked with the same sales rep. The sales rep has been with company 9yrs but it extremely difficult to work with. That shoukd not be tolerated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address retention issues with employee turn around patterns, within sales territory.

I worked at Cyberonics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

CYBX has great benefits through their provider. 4 weeks of vacation was definitely a plus along with a good hearted CEO.

    Cons

*Work environment was very hostile in CTS (always competition to be #1).
*Work ethics were low due to new hires and competition to move to a better department and higher pay.
*Poor senior management and always looking to blame individuals for poor metrics.
*Very high turn over rate due to low advancement opportunities. (Seen plenty in my years within the company)
*Work was about 10 hour days with no paid OT
    *CTS department always understaffed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

*Advice to hire management based on education rather than seniority in the company. Changes and new ideas are always a good thing.
*Additional training to management in regards to "managing individuals"

    Pros

Good compensation and benefits. An average employee get 10 % more salary than average market
    Salary.

    Cons

One person is doing 2 persons work. Too many meetings . if someone complains he gets to hear
" thats why you are paid big bucks "
    Micro management.
To prove itself a good work place Cyberonics gets survey done on its own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quality and Operations VPs must stop doing micro management and Must double the workforce.
