Pros – Great benefits package(s), Nice environment and some excellent members of staff. Bonuses (If paid CAN be good)

Cons – Complete lack of career progression unless your in "the network". Three changes of management in three years doesnt help (applies to my department). A lot of long serving staff members that are next to useless but so entrenched that they are immovable. Salary is "Non-negotiable" at time of employment and low. A blasé attitude to annual performance reviews leads to a global salary review structure (unless your management). Petty management that feel its fun to penalise certain members of staff come bonus time.

Advice to Senior Management – Clear the dead wood and look at the good staff you have rather than parachute in short term senior staff!

Pros – A very well run company from the board room down
Excellent benefits package
The opportunity for a good work life balance - if you choose to take it

Cons – A staid environment where people can stay for a long time without making real contribution.
Pseudo culture of recognition and advancement of top performing individuals - people get frustrated and exit the business, leaving the organisation with less dynamic individuals who are happy (not everyone) to turn up and do what they have to.

Advice to Senior Management – Become less risk averse and allow true stars of the organisation opportunity to lead and implement change rather than everyone having to follow strong top down direction. A perception is that management promotions happen in the main because they are 'yes' men.
