    Pros

The product is the top in the market.

    Cons

The management can't decide if they want employees or independent distributors.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the production and assist the distributors, not try to control them.

I have been working at Flowers Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a good product first of all. The independent operators make a decent salary if the territory is good. I've been in route sales over 30 years and make a good salary but I put in the time on my route.

    Cons

Management is short handed due to lack of income. Why go into management if you can work less hours and get paid more on a route. That's what they will end up doing most of the time. There are routes that are slumping sales on them partly because some of the operators aren't aggressive enough and others that don't have the knowledge to order correctly or distribute the product right. Supervision is always tied up with either running a route or miscellaneous stuff.
And in what I've seen supervisors are just doing what they are told and not that knowledgeable in route sales. Most of the drivers do not check their pay statement on their portal weekly because Flowers is ripping the drivers off. They aren't giving them credit for all their transactions. Its alarming how much the accounting people screw up and it goes unnoticed by most drivers.

    Advice to Management

You need to get the bread ties in order in production. Hard to adjust orders when you get same tie colors 2 days in a row. Why can't ALL products have the specified tie color for that particular day!! If you would only increase the shelf life 1 day you would increase sales greatly.

    Pros

You make good money , everyone has great personalities, fun, dont let the "warehouse" fun fool you though , Its very hard work long hours for most . If you dont mind waking up by 1 or 2 a.m I would recommend it . You meet all kinds of great people out on the route .

    Cons

The only cons to this position is , that the company does not have their priorities in a row , well some of them . They make you service accounts where you do not make any money. We as distributors have never got an answer for why . You call us business owners , If I own this business why can i not decide to stop servicing an account that only makes us lose money ? what business owner wants to service an account that does not provide them revenue? The company makes u waste your time money and energy doing these accounts . They try to push the Tasty Cake name anywhere and everywhere possible even if it doesnt sell ...... Why ? Trying everything possible to make a profit on a company they purchased , that wasnt worth it .

    Advice to Management

STOP MAKING US SERVICE NON PROFITABLE ACCOUNTS !!!!

    Pros

Great product, great production, good distribution.

    Cons

I/T not innovative, behind the times in technology, not willing to change

    Advice to Management

Find someone who can lead an I/T department and actually introduce new/improved technology instead of only doing what is begged from the business. Sure its a "Good Ol' boys" club and things have worked for a hundred years but eventually the old, tired establishment will pass into the night and then where will the company be?
