I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Travel and money if you produce (or kiss butt of non producing old dogs).

    Cons

Too much dead wood from CEO to all offices living off 35 years at company despite the fact they can't open PowerPoint.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire CEO and 80% of the old dogs. You've lost too Uchenna young talent due to your arrogance and entitlement views the past 3 years.

    Cons

long hours and travel. Commute can be rough

    I worked at Fluor

    Pros

Big projects. Nothing else but i must have twenty words here for acceptance.

    Cons

Low salary. Low responsibility. No appreciation for people with strong experience AND strong educations. Intellect means nothing here. People in senior positions without basic understanding of finance, economic, and believe it or not, engineering. Sad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire educated people AND keep them!

I worked at Fluor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is good.I think that's it. Benefits are poor. 9 day fortnight is supposed to make your work/life balance perfect... But Managers expect you to work off Fridays.

    Cons

Procedures driven. Managers are largely absent, but expectation that you will give your life to the company. Expected to arrive before 7am, and not leave until gone 7pm. Only expected to put 40 hours on timecard. All staff deemed Lazy and incompetent unless you are a manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Manage. Talk to staff... Listen.

I have been working at Fluor as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Good vacation time, and pay was on time.

    Cons

Micro management was one of the biggest issues. The housing was terrible. You would be packed in a dirty filthy tent with many individuals. Your job was always threatened for policy violations it was border line harassment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management at Bagram was terrible. If you don't treat the worker well you will lose the contract anyway.

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Large company, strong emphasis on procedures and practices, if you are in the right network, it can be very lucrative.

    Cons

Extremely old school, run by people who grew up in 1950's and still think computers are the root cause of many inefficiencies.
One example is that they still block you from accessing gmail from work. Which is in fact counter productive. Coz almost everyone now has smart phones so people use their mobile devices to surf, which actually takes longer, so if the management was smarter then would actually modify the IT policies.
Also, there is no importance on real tech advancement, they tried developing an inhouse social network, to keep people engaged, but the systems are so antiquated that everything runs at a glacial pace.
Fluor was one of the biggest companies lobbying to Microsoft to keep XP alive, even after Microsoft stopped support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to make relevant changes, just getting an inhouse social network doesnt make Fluor cool, you need to change at a much deeper level.

    Pros

The company does a good job but overall spends way to much money

    Cons

Houston office is the worst, too many clicks at work , I mean it. if you are not part of it, better to just leave, have to butter up the bosses to succeed, many consider that normal these days. office conditions worst ever. lined up like phone operators with no privacy. stupid idea to save money, when they waste so much on other things

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

act like managers, do something besides just get along.

I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The only reason to work for Fluor is for the compensation

    Cons

The work environment is all very small cubicles the size of a small closet in a hallway. This is even the case for managers and consultants. There is no distinction. The other aspect is that they swing between massive 40% plus layoffs followed a few years later by gigantic hiring. It is common for they to make you stay at home without pay if there isn't a contract to charge to. If you are over the age of 50 you have no career path. All of the emphasis is on the younger workers. The younger people must realize that there is no career path after around 45.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about who the important knowledge workers are and give them a professional environment. Not a desk in the hallway.
