It has it's pros and cons

Gna (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD (US)

ProsBenefits almost start immediately. Thorough orientation. One of the nicer facilities I've seen in LTC (even behind the scenes).

ConsOrientation not on the shift you'll be working (when things are a lot different on each shift). No real money for all the hard work especially in the area I live... hard to live off this income. Co-workers are more of an issue than the residents.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate another program to help employees further their education so they'll stay with the company and to have a lower turnover rate.

I have gained many wonderful relationships with co-workers and residents in the past 4yr with Genesis.

Rehab Office Coordinator (Current Employee) Lancaster, PA (US)

ProsI enjoyed the therapy staff tremendously. It makes such a difference when you are with a team that works together!

ConsIt was tough when we were short staffed, because I had to carry a lot of the weight by myself.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication is key, no matter what role you are in, whether it be entry-level or management; I believe all staff should be treated equally and respectfully appreciated as well.

Admissions Coordinator (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD (US)

ProsI have worked for Genesis since 2006. I have held several positions and have made many great connections and friendships. The company has tons of support for those interested in learning something new. The care is phenomenal.

ConsThe pay is somewhat low compared to other large healthcare companies.

Longest job I have held in my career... 7 years and counting....

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)

ProsCompany really does care, has excellent education opportunities, and quality care.

ConsCorporations are corporations... some things cant be helped. People often misunderstand reasoning behind big decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to remain as transparent as you can and don't forget what it was like to work the floor.

good times, bad times, no better or worse than any other rehab company

PTA (Former Employee) Chester, PA (US)

Prosgreat place to learn your discipline, great variety of patient diagnosis.
rehab staff is great to work with,

Consproductivity expectations are unrealistic when you consider the geriatric population is mostly sick and tired, rarely does the day go smoothly to see all patients in such a way that ensures 90% productivity.

Advice to Senior Managementspend a day in a rehab gym and experience what challenges are present that get in the way of high productivity and treating patients for unreasonably high minutes.
