    Software Engineering Intern

    Intern (Current Employee) Hyderābād

ProsAwesome place to work for. Awesome people and great culture. Food was a way lot better than college mess food.

ConsAfter the internship you take a bit of time to settle for the college mess food. To be serious, none con that I noticed.

    Experience of a lifetime

Software Engineering Intern (Former Employee) Bangalore

ProsHas the best employee environment and gives the best facilities to them. A family like atmosphere inside company without bounds makes you enjoy your work.

ConsIt actually has none as far as I could find. You name anything and Google had already thought of it and worked upon it.

    Amazing experience

    Intern (Former Employee) Gurgaon, Haryana

ProsAn opportunity that broadened my horizons and helped gain insight into the best practices with a leading company. The focus on good quality work and ethics surpassed everything else. Managers and seniors at every level were approachable and gave constant feedback to achieve significant improvements in a very short span of time.

ConsWas spoilt with the perks from the job and the experience increased my overall expectations from any future employer.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease create more opportunities to have Interns on board so that the awareness and enthusiam is created amongst high performing students to consider prospects with Google.

    Great Place to Work!

Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsThe environment and culture are wonderful. There's free food and events. The company does interesting work. You fee like your work is relevant when you work here because of the nature of the company's work. The people are nice, smart, and down to earth.

ConsPeople are assigned a lot of work so you must be sure to do a good job balancing your workload. It's hard to get work done when you have so many awesome distractions like neat events to attend.

    Perfect experience

Quantitative Analyst Intern (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

Pros1. There are rich resources for internal training.
    2. Flexible time and nice work/life balance.
    3. Generous payment and relocation stipend.
    4. Gorgeous people to work and interact at work.
    5. Google holds internal weekly meetings to share the most recent progress in various teams.

ConsAs the company is too big, it takes more time to learn about the different opportunities on a higher level. Typical projects have narrow focuses and it is hard to learn what everybody else is doing in the team.

    BOLD Intern

BOLD Intern (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsGreat benefits, incredible culture, hard-working peers, and great opportunities to grow professionally. The environment promotes teamwork and support rather than competition and sabotage which is great.

ConsGoogle is not immune to office politics. Many people are invested in their own responsibilities and projects that it becomes difficult to ensure that you are receiving the necessary and training for your own job. Also, mobility is more common horizontally rather than vertically.

    A stimulating summer experience

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsEveryone's very bright and hardworking, but everyone knows this already. More important, the Google culture is one of openness. Many docs are publicly visible, so you can learn about other projects in the company, and people enjoy talking about what they're working on.

ConsThis varies significantly by location, but some workspaces are very tightly crammed, with people sitting side-by-side in long tables. This is a distracting and unpleasant work environment. It's like being in an industrial chicken coop. Engineers need quiet!

    Great place for an internship

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsReally, really smart people. Great pay. Great perks. Great culture. You can really tell that almost everyone there thinks they are doing what is best for the world. They aren't just there to make a quick buck.

ConsIt seems like there are a lot of people who are over-qualified for what they're doing. This isn't really an issue for an intern but it could be down the road. As an intern, it can be stressful trying to get your project done in such a short amount of time. No one puts pressure on you but if you want to get a full time offer, you probably want to try to impress them. Also, since they're obsessed with (un-biased) data, they insist on having interns do more interviews at the end of their internship if they want to convert to full time. If you happen to have a bad day or get an interviewer you really don't click with, you're basically screwed, no matter how good your reviews from your manager and co-workers are. After this, they are VERY strict about you not re-applying for a least a year, by which point anyone would have already found another job.
