    Pros

    Early adopters of technology
Always looking for options to push new products and new technology to clients
Pay package, while not the best, isn't too bad
    Value awards
    Presidents dinners
    Good engagement with technology partners
Good support for family, though not necessarily work life

    Cons

Career Management is almost zilch from a management point of view, unless you want to take the bull by the horns so to speak
Very very sales driven, even non-sales departments
Very rigid in terms of policies
Very difficult to get through to upper management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Although there is an open door policy in principle with top management, it is very selective, and only people who know them personally can get access.
Top Management doesnt realise that down at the lower echelons often are the back bone of the company

Lots of potential, however no Sales accoutability, paying half the industry commission rate will keep them mediocre!

Former Employee - Solutions Sales Executive
Former Employee - Solutions Sales Executive

    Pros

    Lots of things to sell!

    Cons

Poor work life balance, too many management changes, middle management is afraid to speak up and manage in fear of losing thier jobs. Poor at dividing territories to gain better market penetration, management will keep accounts vs doing what is best for the company. Many salary plan changes over the past 3 years which has been a continual downgrade.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get smart hold the AE's and Middle managment accountable for growing sales portfolio's, Many reps have accounts they do not work or call on, ie just passing electronic orders. Take away the bottom accounts from every rep, hire new reps on the commision that is already being paid out and penetrate the market.

    Pros

They have good scheduling and work with you when you have family emergency. Everyone olis very helpful when you need help and they participate in volunteer work.

    Cons

Office politics, no raises for a few years and when they did give a raise it was well below the average of other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Research into merits and pay for employees.

Current Employee - Inside Sales in Tempe, AZ (US)

    Pros

Good Entry Level with opportunity to make good money if you find the golden ticket

    Cons

Sales process is still in building phase which can sometimes make it difficult to endure through the process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build value in the employees that don't want to remain complacent instead of firing and hiring at more cost someone new to train and go through the full process all over again. Build a culture of employees that don't fear being replaced by the next new thing.

    Pros

Above average pay, nice friendly work environment, benefits are improving (slowly), leadership is trying to get it right, emerging cloud environment may pay dividends, management is focused on improvement

    Cons

Weak 401(k) match - only 25% match up to 6% of pay, 2-3% merit increases isn't going to cut it, need to scale merit increases on a value based system, inconsistent work from home policies from dept. to dept., C-level executives are paid too much (like many places) and not held accountable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus on simplifying processes, employee retention,

Current Employee - Marketing  in  Tempe, AZ (US)
Current Employee - Marketing in Tempe, AZ (US)

    Pros

Warm culture, always something fun going on. Bring Your Dog to Work Day, on-site health clinic, covered parking, onsite cafe, lots of free food and giveaways.

    Cons

Salaries are below average, there is no career path and hardly ever any promotions within ones job. Management seems supportive but never goes to bat for you. Unless you are in sales, no one really cares about you. Losing the Insight Bowl also stinks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provde career paths for employees OTHER than in sales. Actions speak louder than words - quit telling employees about all the great opps at Insight - show them instead. Put more money into marketing, add headcount, create advertising campaigns. Compared to CDW we are booooring.
