I worked at MD Anderson full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The insurance benefit is great, the pay is okay, they try to keep current with the market.

    Cons

You can't really use your sick days. You have all these days but if you call in sick thats a point against you. The only time you can be absent is on vacation, but who plans sick days?

I worked at MD Anderson full-time for more than 3 years

    Cons

Horrible environment to work in. Core values are not used by employees. Many employees are in positions about their pay grades

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be selective about who you hire based on educational and experience, not of friendships or relationships

I have been working at MD Anderson

    Pros

Retirement plan is the best thing that I can say at this time after being there for 8 years

    Cons

hard to advance within the company, The recruitment process is horrible and they really don't respond to reasons why your application was not passed to the hiring manager

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

lighten up and listen to what you employees are trying to tell you

I have been working at MD Anderson full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    good contacts, great work experience

    Cons

poor pay, high paperwork, admin positions get paid too much

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the salary to scientists who are the brains behind the operation. It is frustrating for scientists to know that paper pushers in the department 'so called project managers' are the ones with the big salaries.

Current Employee - Clinical Research Personnel
Current Employee - Clinical Research Personnel

I have been working at MD Anderson full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Gaining experience from a world-renowned institute which looks great on the resume.

    Cons

Too much micromanagement, research management does not keep its promises, cannot trust in your supervisors, difficult to transfer to other departments; lately many people were hired for clinical research with no relevant education and/or experience; failed HR employees transfer themselves to positions and getting the highest end of the salary range, while they don't have relevant education and/or experience, while at the same time regular employees barely get a raise; unfair treatment of certain employees, double standard. More cons than pros for sure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire all HR personnel, review research management's performance and change them where it is required, review "flex hours" as some employees take advantage of that (e.g. supposed to work 40 hours during 4 days, but work only 8 hours per day or even much less - many times the excuse is that "working from home" while their work requires in-house presence).

I have been working at MD Anderson full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits are excellent and with the right supervisor, the work/life balance is achievable.

    Cons

Salary is very low for experience and education required for the position

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The research staff is not valued. There are few incentives and opportunities to develop a career.
