Not as great as it seems. Don't be blinded by the name!

    Design Intern (Former Employee)

    ProsAs a designer, fun projects.

ConsNo sense of company culture ro community, and no appreciation for its employees. You are a cog in the machine, alongside thousands of employees working to add "MTV" to their resume. Little appreciation ro recognition; you are a nobody. It is inexcusable for internships to be unpaid, at such a massive company.

    Intern slave labor

Digital Research Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsCool company vision, central location in NYC, varied creative departments and channels within network, occasional celebrity sightings in office

ConsUnpaid internship, unstructured intern training/events, too many students to accommodate for (500 interns/semester), lack of day to day work, difficult to get full time hire after internship

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to mentor interns rather than just give them leftover managerial work to do

Cons-You almost never have contact with anyone above a coordinator... unless they love you
    -Really mundane tasks
-Unlike some internships, they make you get them food almost every lunch time.

Too big, too much a$$ kissing, but looks great on a resume!

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsI was an intern, but this is what I observed:

    -Laid back environment
    -Casual attire
    -Looks great on a resume
-Nice people for the most part

Cons-MTV is huge so you feel like a number
-WAY too much a$$ kissing (not my style)
-Located in an annoying spot (Times Square)
-Does not guarantee you a job when you finish your internship

Advice to Senior Management-Listen more to ideas of the people working under you
-Become more in touch with the company's younger targeted audience

I loved the culture and the variety of tasks at hand.

Production Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

    ProsGreat work life balance
    Great perks
Access to events and episodes before public

    ConsNot noticed easily
    Unpaid
Some of the staff very cold and unbothered

Advice to Senior ManagementGive your interns more guidance with their career paths, be more honest about how competitive it is to get a job there.

Generally nice coworkers but little mobility

MTV Networks Intern (Current Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsFun, hip and modern work place with a young demographic. Dress is casual and people seem interested in meeting others. Easy to be hired as an intern.

ConsLittle mobility within the company and limited benefits turn me off from this company. The atmosphere, while fun, can seem a bit unprofessional at times.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
