I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group

    Pros

Great people, team oriented work place, supports work life balance, encourages personal and professional development, well established company in the Pittsburgh area, opportunities to rise up within the company, supports employee participating in community service initiatives,

    Cons

Benefits aren't great, raises are very small if at all, can get 'lost' in such a large company, unclear career paths

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a career plan with your employees (where they want to be in five years, etc.) and help them reach their goals.

    Pros

Friendly people, workplace flexibility, face time with management, work with plenty of technologies, management encourages training and self-improvement

    Cons

Rapid team growth puts a tad of a strain on communications, not as much time for team building outside of working directly on projects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to maintain consistent communication between tech & ops groups.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group

    Pros

The training and support at all levels is absolutely top notch. PNC also does a great job keeping up with technology.

    Cons

Pay is not always competitive as compared to the competition. Opportunity for advancement without moderate travel is not common.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is less expensive to raise rates to retain quality employee than to continually hire and train low wage replacements.

I worked at PNC Financial Services Group

    Pros

PNC has great products for everyone so it is easy to "sell" them to consumers to make your goals. Benefits are good. If you are a student they offer tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Established goals can be excessive and very aggressive. Work-life balance is difficult for management to offer because most branches only have 5-7 employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Selling is an acquired skill for people, offer training that allow employees to practice selling products and services.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group

    Pros

    Work/life balance
    Development and growth opportunities
    Long term employer

    Cons

There is no Unity within the bank, some departments don't work well with other departments. Hard to get information from some areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote Unity or "oneness" throughout the bank. We are all working for the same goal.. we are PNC, we are "1 PNC" not different companies

    Pros

Wonderful reputation, strong market share, tools and resources available to be successful.

    Cons

Restrictions on pay increases between pay grades limit the benefits of moving up. Difficult to change paths once you settle into a role.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more creative in developing your better talent, and don't be afraid to pay them accordingly. Someone else will.

I worked at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Many entry level opportunities, competitive salary & great benefits.

    Cons

Font line manager training is inadequate, insufficient support from senior management and human resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication throughout all functional areas, as well as within lines of business needs drastic improvement. Hours of operation should be adjusted to reflect contact rates & customer need instead of just keeping with general format.
