I worked at PNC Financial Services Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great management, two weeks pd off starting out, prorated the first year. Great training, in corporate office.

    Cons

Shift bids that do not coincide for students, they happen after the semesters take place making it almost impossible to continue education unless it is online.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the shift bid for specialized departments at least. Groups tend to be small enough to work shifts out on own, make them to were you have two days off in a row, and align them with the school semesters.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group for less than a year

    Pros

Great culture, the people are really invested in helping you grow as a banker and everyone has a work hard, play hard mentality. Very collegiate, and the bank is really growing a lot so good opportunities to advance.

    Cons

Sometimes management wasn't very thorough in terms of responsibilities and commitments that they wanted interns to complete. Lack of information transparency.

    Cons

No real difference between job requirements between junior and more senior members. Seemed like was just a job title to advance in paygrade

    Pros

Decent pay, room to grow, nice benefits, tuition reimbursement, I was with this company 5 years and had 4 different promotions, I explored 4 different jobs and I was grateful that I had the opportunity to do so, if they were around in Texas I'd be working for them

    Cons

I did have one bad manager. She would go out to get business and she was really getting her hair or nails done and eating lunch on the company card.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group

    Pros

PNC has great management that really cares about their employers. They do a good job of communicating expectations. Benefits are good and the office culture is excellent. They provide many opportunities for training and to grow together as a team with fellow associates. The work/life balance is excellent.

    Cons

The incentive structure is less than wonderful and encourages employees to give customers products they don't really want or need. Management talks like employees are only supposed to sell based on customer's real needs, but the incentives and goal structures make it impossible not to push products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on the quality of what is being sold by your associates and less on quantity. The current incentive plan encourages employees to open new accounts when all a customer really needs is an upgrade for instance. This costs the bank money, creates more work (and less convenience) for the client just so employees can meet their goals.
