The worst job ever!!!!!

Prospaid holidays and off on weekends

Consexpensive health coverage, terrible management, unrealistic goals, selling products you wouldn't recommend to family/friends

Advice to Senior ManagementBe sincere when it comes to meeting customer's needs. If you are setting goals for tellers and other platform associates, make sure that you are setting great examples of ways to better customer service. Don't take your stress out on you team. Be apart of your team! Show your employees that you truly value them and appreciate their hard work. Corporate needs to hire better managers, assistant managers, and head tellers.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay what you promise based on goals and objectives. Don't change it if the number get too big.

Over worked and under paid!!!!

ConsToo pushy with goals, work load is too heavy, management just cares about profit not people!

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want to work like a slave, be pushed to sell unrealistic goals, work with no voice or options, looked over for the great things because of small things. and get paid the bottom of the barrel then Regions is the place for you! Regions has lost sight of caring for the customer and their employees and only focus on profit. Working at a small less busy branch or working for a fair manager may save you some grief but not much. I have never been so stressed out by a job in my life! I will never work for Regions again. JUST SAY NO AND FIND ANOTHER JOB! Save yourself the headache!!

ProsIf one becomes desperate for a job, there are always open positions. High turnover.

ConsManagement puts blinders on the associates to Sell,Sell,Sell.....NOT resolve the customers issues, problems or concerns..

Wouldn't recommend working for Regions.

ProsMet some nice people there.

ConsRegions operates with a lean staff (when fully staffed), and in my opinion and experience, they have significant teller turnover. Unfortunately, every time a teller quits, it takes a minimum of 2-3 months before you have a new teller, hired, trained and placed in your branch. This is a constant, continual problem, which leaves the rest of the branch employees understaffed, overworked and not very happy. You can't get coverage from other branches in your area because they are short-staffed as well.

Advice to Senior ManagementI believe it will fall on deaf ears, so, I won't waste my time.

they lure you in with promises

Prosfreedom to work your own hours and no office time requirement

Conswhen I was interviewing for the Financial Consultant position (new company position since Jan 2013 – be wary of this), they promised a large book of existing business, and plenty of prospects to call on. I was there for many months and this was NOT the case. no book, they will not allow you to call on clients with out the permission of the bankers. now about these bankers, I have never in my 12 years in the job markets seen a group of people with less work ethic! they are great people, and its not their fault, the upper management allows it. this is all management does not coach you, they just send out emails and do calls asking what you have in your pipeline, this is their “coaching.” no experience as well – my manager had no financial sales experience (they may even be violating an SEC regulation here). their pay grid is terrible, it will take millions of dollars in sales to make a decent commission. Last, they advertise this position as a “investment/financial PLANNER/ADVISOR” you will do NO advising, they will ask you to be transactional: sell, sell, sell, mostly mutual funds and annuities. also, I was told by several colleagues that this is not the only position Regions lures people in with promises and takes them away! if transactional sales is your thing, trust me, work for one of their competitors. if advising is your thing, do not work in banking

Advice to Senior Managementstop sugar coating this job, create a better salary and comp grid, take a step back and realize your mistakes and revamp

Promises, Promises, Promises

ProsI had a few good co-workers.

ConsNothing management promised ever happened. Is it legal to work an employee 40 hours promising medical benefits but never following through? I waited 10 weeks and asked numerous times when my benefits were going to be in effect and could never get a straight answer. I was expected to sell their product, make quota and work 40 hours but not have benefits. Also very understaffed so while co-workers were off sick or at doctors appointments I worked for them but I had no benefits. No thank you!

Advice to Senior ManagementI realize there is a chain of command in a corporation but not when dealing with employee benefits. In this economy many people work for insurance and the pay is the bonus. I couldn't wait one more day.

ProsYou are paid $11.44 an hour to start off and with 80 hours you can afford to life comfortably. You can also earn up to about $800 extra a month if you meet/exceed sales goals. You are not forced to wear a suite and tie in this environment. It is a team setting so you don't feel so alone and bored. Free accounts for yourself and nice rates as an employee.

ConsAs you see they pay you starting off at is very nice but there is a HUGE CATCH. The turnover rate is SUPER HIGH. This job is so stressful. You are FORCED to "connect" with the customer but not because you should-because you need to get A MILLION sales pitches into the conversation. You need to sell every qualified customer a credit card EVEN if they def don't need it. There is an extensive list of items you need to mention to the customer and RIGHT OFF THE BAT it comes off as a sales pitch. You have to have a certain amount of referrals a day. In the mix of trying to LIST EVERY SINGLE SALES PITCH you have to participate in your team chat and check every email (they send a million an hour). You have to keep watch of your schedule change at the same time (they will change it in a split second-i should know its happened to me so many times). Lets not forget if they give you a "title". I was asked to be Gallup champ for my team which is being in charge of gaining all 5s on our team's reviews. You have to STILL MEET AND EXPECTED TO EXCEED your daily goals, do all the other stuff i mentioned, and plan meeting for your Gallup pitches and mentor your team members on their customer service. You also have to do "activities" like posters and stupid stuff like that for your team. I left work every night at 7 and the job went with me. I was never fully rested or relaxed because it goes with you. When I put in my notice I had enough because my team leader had disrespected me a few times. All the company cares about is profit and not keeping valuable members. The pitches they want you to make and the responses they want you to say to customers are all lies and when you have to lie to a customer that actually KNOWS its a lie it kinda makes it harder to make a sales pitch.

Just NEVER apply for this company. I never even recommend others to bank with them because of their system being designed to screw you over.

Advice to Senior ManagementI cant really give them advice because they would need to change EVERYTHING.

Not a place for innovative thinking at all.

ProsThe people seem nice enough.

ConsThis company suffers from a severe case of inbreeding. If you're not from Alabama or have no ties to the University of Alabama, you're regarded as an oddity. Job advancement and security usually comes down to whether you own enough crimson and houndstooth in your wardrobe. Birmingham is a hell hole for the most part. Schools are mostly awful, except in the affluent areas where they are merely mediocre. Corrupt city government, a broke county, lots of empty buildings downtown, and one of the highest murder rates in the country. This is not a good place to work and Birmingham is not a good place to live.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit trying to make a profit by cutting costs for salaries. Quit giving plum jobs to people who were in your fraternity or sorority at UA, but otherwise have no qualifications. You cannot expect to keep good people when you offer them 1% or 2% raises every year. I've seen too many good people leave out of frustration with the culture and poor compensation.
