I have been working at TRW Automotive full-time

    Pros

Some Flexibility with work from home. Good Dental coverage. Worker level employees are helpful and try to fulfill team objectives.

    Cons

Medical benefits have high deductable when comparable to other automotive suppliers and OEMS.
Work Life balance is not balanced. Not much leadership or mentoring. Staffing is short sighted and product knowledge is iffy. No career path.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know your staff; aptitudes, knowledge, and your staff that are "weak links". Reassign people accordingly and compensate the capable ones.

I have been working at TRW Automotive full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people. Finally starting much needed building improvements

    Cons

The penny pinching culture while consistently recording record profits. The building is old, leaky and erratic temperature controls.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize that engineering is equally important to the company as operations.

I worked at TRW Automotive full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good employer, looks after your health

    Cons

Being an American Automotive firm will always mean a meagre salary, fewer benefits and the sound of constant whingeing from people who have been there a long time (fewer benefits, no pay rises, loss of perks, moral etc)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fewer meetings and more decision making!

I worked at TRW Automotive full-time for more than a year

    Pros

All liberty to handle with the OES accounts in the my way. A great school to how to do business by yourself.

    Cons

Does not have a structure team to OES, very difficult to develop business because of that

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Brazil has a great market to OES business and all major customer are looking for partnerships to gain share and build up a better market to their dealers.

Current Employee - Product Engineer in Washington, MI (US)

I have been working at TRW Automotive as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Good work experience to learn various internal management systems for quality and production. For me it was also a revelation of dealing with offshore suppliers and developing them to produce and maintain high quality components.

    Cons

Shareholder value undermines value of non-management employees. Minimal investment in developing talent for contract employees - arrive with it or develop it on your own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees make a company - good ones are hard to find. If you have them - treat them to keep them. This is a comment on the many people leaving the company during the time I worked there for two years from 2011- 2013.
