    Great place to learn.

Assistant Project Manager (Former Employee) Seattle, WA (US)

ProsIf you are new to development this place is great to learn. They have enough money behind them that they aren't as concerned with the little mistakes as they are with keeping the machine moving.

ConsThere are a lot of software programs specific to Toll that will take time to learn. There are a lot of systems because they are so large, it can get messy with paper work.

Advice to Senior ManagementPM's bonus should be based off of how many homes they close.

Great at making money. Not great for employees.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere are some great people who work or worked there, and that's big plus: But you won't find a lot of ex employees who sing the praises of Toll Brothers. If you are sales person during a boon time, you'll make some good money.

ConsIt is normal to work 6 day weeks, upper management is not very creative in marketing and it's very difficult to have a long career here.

    Challenging Work, Antiquated Work Environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFocus is on work produced, not time in office. Co-workers are friendly and co-operative. Opportunities to work w/ cutting edge technology.

ConsPoor physical work facilities. Little opportunity for upward mobility & job growth, largely based on time with company.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove work facilities. Provide opportunities for career growth.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Up's and Down's with Toll Brothers

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFor the most part, the homeowners, office staff and construction staff are good to work with.

ConsUpper management doesn't have good people skills and can be much too demanding most of the time. * hours is not enough...10 hours is not enough...12 hours is not enough. Always want more than you can give. That's why many very good managers and other staff have left.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe kinder and gentler to your quality staff members, regardless of which area they work in. Yes, you CAN always hire new people, but retaining your current staff who are good at what they do should be your priority, and when I worked for Toll, that was not an option. Now however, I understand all the nasty upper management have either left or were asked to leave. THAT is a good thing.....too bad I no longer live by Toll Brother communities or I would love to go back to work for them.

Great Members, Good Managers, and Poor Pay

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsMembers of the club treat the staff very well. The tips help to make the pay more reasonable, and management is flexible with hours.

ConsThe hourly rate is more than most servers make, but Toll Bros charges a service charge on all checks, which doesn't go to the servers. 12 hour shifts are the norm, and breaks are few and far between.

America's OK luxury home builder .

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Austin, TX (US)

ProsComfortable work atmosphere, easy to use contracts, forms, letters, and company interface smooth and easy to use, coworkers were nice and interacted well between all levels of management and the building process.

ConsToo focused on cheesy selling techniques and homebuyer functions that only brought the same people every time, always about the bottom line but the economy was bad and people were taking longer, "go sell something"- really?, switched sales managers between locations too frequently.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou would tell us to sell but then get in the way of closing a deal or would give too much to the potential homebuyer that made us look desperate. As a sales associate I called potentials and kept homebuyers updated on building process, but when I took over contracts and you didn't give any of the commission to me I wondered why I was doing my work at all. You also moved sales managers around the community so frequently it was hard for me to ever learn their methods for sales and instead had to focus on the way they organized files, contracts, etc. It was very frustrating because I felt like the higher ups were never happy with our numbers no matter how well we did.

    Okay

    Marketing Coordinator (Current Employee)

ProsI can definitely say that their benefits are better than other companies for sure. There are some perks for working there. We can get employee discounts for various things. They have flexible hours, which is a bonus.

ConsLong hours and untrained HR staff when it comes to dealing with employee issues. Some staff are required to stay extra hours for the Monday night meetings which are unpaid.
