I worked at Towers Watson for more than a year

    Pros

Good processes, good culture, good management

    Cons

    Restrictive, Lack of opportunities thereafter

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your analytics team on real world analytics softwares (Eg SAS, SQL ) other than internally developed ones. Theres no demand for your consultants outside 3-4 HCG employers.

The work, environment and internal opportunities are good though.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great culture, keen to ensure job security, professional.

    Cons

Highly profit focused, reducing the strategic outlook only to the short term for markets of the future. Highly centralized. Relationship oriented - at the cost of meritocracy. Often fails to identify incompetence giving the impression that incompetence is tolerable in order to preserve the 'job security' culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

TW is a case of not practicing what its preaching. A little more focus on talent management and talent models will go a long way in increasing profitability as well as market share. That and a special focus on business services. The RoI on Business services is terrible!

I have been working at Towers Watson as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

It is a global company with all of the HR subdivisions, so it's good for people that want to develop in the HR field. There is a friendly environment, nice people and career opportunities.

    Cons

A lot of work, responsibilities and expectations for an intern position. There is no coaching, mentoring nor a lot of learning opportunities. It is expected you know things even though it is an internship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No direct contact with upper management.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Reasonable salary
    - Friendly office environment
    - Quarterly social events
    - Well-respected name
    - Good work/life balance for this role

    Cons

    - Very limited growth, stagnation
    - Mediocre benefits
    - Terrible communication between departments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider letting non-vital employees work from home. The commute in certain parts of New York can be brutal, and I am sure the same can be said for our employees in DC and other Metro areas. If the work can be done over the Internet, save yourself some money and hassle and let employees work from home.
