I worked at Towers Watson (more than a year)

    Pros

Good processes, good culture, good management

    Cons

    Restrictive, Lack of opportunities thereafter

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your analytics team on real world analytics softwares (Eg SAS, SQL ) other than internally developed ones. Theres no demand for your consultants outside 3-4 HCG employers.

The work, environment and internal opportunities are good though.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great culture, keen to ensure job security, professional.

    Cons

Highly profit focused, reducing the strategic outlook only to the short term for markets of the future. Highly centralized. Relationship oriented - at the cost of meritocracy. Often fails to identify incompetence giving the impression that incompetence is tolerable in order to preserve the 'job security' culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

TW is a case of not practicing what its preaching. A little more focus on talent management and talent models will go a long way in increasing profitability as well as market share. That and a special focus on business services. The RoI on Business services is terrible!

    Pros

    Cons

Average salaries. Multiple goals you have to hit to get one bonus. No training budget. Very politically correct. Can take years before management OKs an offering that the market is demanding now. Multiple overlapping emails etc from senior management touting results.
