    Mechanical engg based bull dozing

Mandatory employee turnover from upper management is puzzling.

    Anonymous (Former Employee)

ProsFree stand mixers and immersion blenders.

ConsFirings are many and often. If you do not have a family you are fair game for sacrifice to save the lives of others' children. Pay is much lower than anything auto or aero in the area. Product integrity is extremely low.

Advice to Senior ManagementChill out and stop thinking you are the greatest company in the world.

    Fearful of Truth

    Sales Representative (Former Employee)

Pros100 year old company with many brands.

ConsThey do not want to hear the truth. They are quick to react toward those speaking their mind and being truthful, and it is not a positive outcome for the individual. Anyone with knowledge and skills are the first ones they look at when they are financially challenged, which is about every three years. Additionally, they love to recruit and hire right out of college. These individuals are made to believe that they will be sitting in a nice office in short time. They do not let these young people learn and grow; they just promote them to silence them.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not promote your new recruits so quickly. Do not put individuals in managerial positions when they do not have the necessary skills.

Horrible, unfair, no work life balance

Marketing (Current Employee) Comerio, PR (US)

ProsSuggestive location and canteen, sadly there is nothing else i can say of positive regarding this company

Consyou can be as qualified as you wish, but there are only 2 possibilities to do any career in Whirlpool

    - you know someone important in the company
    - you are a very pretty/sly woman without conscience (you will need it to kill the possible competition)

Work-life balance? here they do not even know what that is, you can start work at 6 in the morning and finish in the middle of the night, the only recognition you will get is a call from security asking you to go badge because the insurance can not cover us staying in the office for work (so not only you will work for free with your boss complaining because you are not fast enough but you will also not have any insurance against accidents etc). and of course Holiday and Home time do not exist, people will reprimand you because during the night or during your holidays you did not answer to some emails or did some work.

there is no life while you work in Whirlpool but only WORK and zero recognition.

do the smart thing and stay away

all you will find in Whirlpool is pain, anger, hate and disappointment

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the current HR, they are the main reason why people go away from Whirlpool

Wasted 27 yrs of my life

Assembler (Former Employee) Fort Smith, AR (US)

ProsThe pay and hours were good when I started. Meet some of the best people I ever worked with.

ConsThe company only cares about the profit, not about the employees. They started making us work every Saturday of the month with only 1 weekend off. They offer insurance for the employees but it doesn't pay anything towards the bill. Was told by a employee at the dentist office that Whirlpool's dental was the worst they had ever seen.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake some classes on people skills & ethics. And start treating your employees better. Because without them you wouldn't have a job or the BIG bonuses.

    OK but not great

GIS Lead Analyst (Former Employee) Benton Harbor, MI (US)

ProsDecent pay for the location, training

ConsIT leadership does not embrace the CEO's work life balance. You are expected to be available 24hrs a day. I have never been on vacation without having to help fix a crisis. Recognition and reward has nothing to do with hard work, it's politics. I got tired of being taken advantage of and left. To show how much Whirlpool cared when I left, I got a 15 question Survey monkey, not even an exit interview, they just don't care

I now work for a company that respects and rewards me, it was a good decision to leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop listening to GIS leadership and go "undercover boss" to understand what really goes on. Most LDP are feed up with the lack of leadership as well as many other employees, but they endure because there are few options to remain in the area. If there were local options for employment, 20% of IT would leave, if not more.

I would replace 60% of the GIS managers and leadership because they really don't know what being a leader is about, they are nothing but people who have attained a position.

    Terrible terrible management

Factory Worker (Former Employee) Norrköping (Sweden)

ProsNo overtime and no pressure when your shift is over - you're done for the day.

ConsThe people are not very educated and unhappy since the job is so unfulfilling, dull and not stimulating at all. This makes them try to escape work assignments in every possible way when not seen by the upper management.

In 3 years I found this place to work to be all about politics, and very little for employees

Electrician (Former Employee) Amana, IA (US)

ProsIts a job that if you can survive long enough, you might make enough money to put some food on the table

ConsManagement always looks for way to discipline or terminate their employees while dragging them under the short bus so to speak. You are supposed to work to live, not live to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your facts straight, stop trying to pull the discriminatory card, and remember that the employees work for you. If you want a good company, then treat the employees good. Otherwise you will get negative feedback, unhappy workers, and less of a work force to push your product out the door. Which in turn, will mean you will lose your job. If you don't want to lose your job, then get your act together, and treat the employees better.

    awful

Production Operator (Current Employee) Clyde, OH (US)

Prosinsurance benefits and 401(k) for those with hired in the right time frame.

ConsDoes not follow the employee handbook guidelines. Favoritism. If you dress a certain way (showing a lot of skin, etc.) you are treated better and get the job you want over those with seniority. Doesn't offer 401(k) opportunities to newer employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvestigate the reasons for new and temporary employees getting promotions. Check into the fact that the people getting these jobs are dating other advisors or are relatives (by marriage or otherwise).

Logistics Senior Manager at Embraco (Whirlpool´s Compressors division)

Logistics Senior Manager (Former Employee) Joinville (Brazil)

Pros- Good annual bonus, despite frequent reduction on normal White collar salaries to reach annual targets.
    - Good opportunity to live on a quiet and organized city as Joinville (Brazil)

Cons- company is going through a difficult moment with no product innovation and strong competition from China

    - Top Management is only able to analyze the current quarter, not able to think and make decisions for the long term.

    - company not able to create talented people from inside, people rotation is huge in comparison to other industrial companies

    - 60% of trainees leave before 12 months. 85% leave before 2 years

    - Top Management hires people from outside with complete different backgrounds and corporation culture, creating an even more difficult working environment

    - Salaries are constantly reduced in 5% with the excuse of reaching the annual targets. That creates a terrible internal working climate

    - Serious internal competition among internal employees for promotions, resulting in no internal collaboration among departments (e.g. 1) sales vs. logistics on delivery dates, although customers do not follow sales procedures, e.g. 2) logistics vs. R&D on managing thousands of SKUs created without checking with supply chain first).

    - Conflict of interests from Whirlpool corporation: most important client (Whirlpool itself) does not respect logistics procedures (frozen period, changes on forecast, etc...) creating mess and losses for Embraco logistics.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop fighting among yourselves and create a coherent and sincere speech for internal collaboration.
Do not fire skilled and competent people only because of political alignment.
