its a good place but could be made much better by making it more people friendly.

    I worked at Whirlpool

    Pros

There were lots to learn in terms of inter departments, one will get chance to interact with people from different departments and vendors. As I was in design team, so interactions was on quite higher side, we used to meet senior level team members from other teams and lots of idea's sharing and validation and impletation used to happen. One is open to speak about creative & innovative ideas.

    Cons

There were no proper feedback session. Senior team member used to be bit bossy and insecure, what if junior team member starts working good and getting more recognition.
in terms of accepting Ideas and implementing they are quite slow. By the time they understand market and realize need, competitiors go much ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be timely feedback session. A proper growth plan for employee should be made specially if he/ she taking care of two different roles and want to grow in one certain area. Giving chance or say, trusting the junior level team member so that he too can feel motivated and show his true potential.

    Pros

    You get a paycheck.

    You work with good people

Otherwise nothing else, it's a call center so you get yelled at every day.

    Cons

Lack of Vision - Company constantly changing tools and policy but never thinking about how it will affect customers and employees.

Dishonesty - You're told not to lie to the customer, but you're also told not to tell the customer that there is a known issue with an appliance even though there's notices about known issues and your last 100 calls were about the same issue customer is calling in about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help your employees by not asking them to lie to a customer but tell them not to lie. Admit to the customer that an appliance has a design flaw and help make it right. Don't let the Rep get yelled at over something we should be helping a customer with if we're being honest.

I have been working at Whirlpool full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Whirlpool is a good company to work for, especially right out of college. You're going to get great experience, excellent pay, and work with some very talented colleagues. This is dependent on which job function you're in but for the most part the work you do will be challenging and rewarding. Work-life balance is great too, I usually work 40-42 hours a week, unless we have something going on then it can creep up near 50 (still not bad). Summer hours are awesome- a lot of people usually around noon on Fridays.

They also have some nice wineries in the area which I enjoyed a lot!

    Cons

The biggest con that Whirlpool has going for it is location. It's located in this very small town off the coast of Lake Michigan (I will say the summers are nice) but the winters are awful. It's cloudy every day which in turn makes the town depressing and snows a ton, although this winter it hasn't snowed much. There's not much to do here, especially if you're a young professional, unless you're into winter activities. There's very few young folks within this company (straight from out of college) and that's mostly due to the location and the only reason the few that do decide to come is because of the pay. Good luck finding a nice apartment as well because there's only a couple good apartments in the area and they usually have a waiting list. Most people end up renting a house or apartment house.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut down on the politics, it really hinders progress and productivity.

I worked at Whirlpool full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Training and personal growth opportunities. Lots of diverse jobs.

    Cons

Big company, very small town. Lots of politics and promotion of leadership not based on results or performance but who you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Base your leadership and promotions on actual business results driven and performance. Sometimes people move jobs so fast (less than a year) how can anyone be held accountable.
