    Pros

Dynamic environment, smart colleagues, many benefits just being a part of the community (access to cultural events etc), generally an effort to "do the right thing."

    Cons

Unless you are management or similar, you probably won't get rich. And it's in New Haven, which has a high crime rate despite many improvements in recent years. Know the neighborhood!

    Advice to Management

Continue to treat your staff as professionals and part of the Yale "family", including trying to employ spouses and respecting input from all levels.

    Pros

The best things about this school are the professors and the rich resources available. The professors are brilliant, and often at the top of their fields. For humanities majors in particular, the libraries have just about anything you might need, and more. I would go again, and I would certainly hire students from there.

    Cons

Beautiful school until you get one block off campus. The jokes about New Haven are real and sad because the urban decay is so real

    Pros

    - Stipend is pretty competitive and makes most places to live affordable in New Haven
    - New Graduate Career Services merger with Undergraduate Career Services has opened up literally thousands of new doors for employer searches
    - Broader Yale community open to lateral movements from science to business to teaching

    Cons

    - New Haven as a function of being a smaller city just cannot compete with neighboring NYC and Boston
    - Typical graduate school experience of being at the whims of advisors. Committee system only applicable to some degrees and sometimes the committees are packed with people favorable only to advisors; not the best interest of students. But Yale should not strive for a middle of the pack graduate student experience; it should aim much higher.

    Advice to Management

    - Career services alone has provided tremendous resources, but adoption by senior faculty members is critical. Faculty advisors should be prodded by the administration to be more accepting and supportive of career paths outside of academia. Select faculty members do a great job at this, but its far from universal now

    Cons

End results are oftentimes much more important than any individual

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the mental health and well-being of graduate students and professional contractors

    Pros

Good place to conduct biomedical research. The benefits like health care are good. Culture is great

    Cons

Pay for junior staff is low and not too much to complain about given the status of funding right now
