Learned a lot but confusion rules

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA (US)

ProsOld, established company, good products, some smart people there

ConsKnee-jerk reactions to market fluctuations, they have massive layoffs to show investors they are "serious about cost cutting" then add staff gradually, then another layoff, then more rehiring... rinse, repeat...

Advice to Senior ManagementThink about 5 years from now, not 5 months from now and stop treating your valuable, loyal employees like expired bread.

    Basic Inside Sales Position

Inside Sales (Former Employee) Chicago, IL (US)

ProsThe inside sales team had a very strict daily schedule. This was my first sales position and I learned basic sales skills. Steady pay-check.

ConsNot much room for upward opportunities. Low commission structure. Every day is exactly the same with not much opportunity

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Zep Inc.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA (US)

ProsThere are opportunities for new people who can bring in their experience from larger companies, and there are good people still at the company.

ConsThe company has had a lot of changes to its mid and high level management positions. It doesn't matter if it is to cut costs or to eliminate what leadership considers "B" level players, this continues to create non-value added changes within the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would hope that the core of the company's retention and morale, human resources, will make significant improvements in their leadership.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

    Good People

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

It started out great, like a family but then they became cold and hard on sales reps.

    Chemical Sales (Former Employee)

ProsStarted out as a great job that I could build my own business and work my own hours. When they went public it was then all about the shareholders and making money. Even my customers were not valued like they should have been

ConsToo many major changes in the company from 2005 on up. My old manager didn't know what he was doing and the higher ups didn't know or want to hear how bad his management skills were. He was later fired I heard.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet back to the basics like Harry M. ran it. Value your employees and they will value you.
