Interview Details Went through the channels of walking into the store, asking for an application. I filled out said application with my information. Typical application information such as name, address, previous employers, references, drug history.

Interview Details Basic sit-down interview. Probing question and answer.

Negotiation Details – No negotiation, the pay rate is the national minimum wage.

Interview Details The hiring process seemed pretty smooth to me. I turned in an application, three days later I was contacted over the phone to set up a phone interview by one of the managers, the basic hiring one. After passing the phone interview I was scheduled a in person interview.

I was nervous about the interview bu the location was gorgeous and everyone was really friendly. I ended up waiting in the cafe for the manager as I had arrived promptly, and spent the time reading. We went through normal interview questions, but she also broke that formality some and we talked about books, discovering we had fallen in love with fantasy through the same author. I felt hopeful, and regardless very happy about the interview even if I didn't get the position or not.

A second interview in person was set up, and that one went a bit more in depth, but this third manager was as personable and friendly as the first two.

After the third interview I was offered the job and accepted. Two days later I started my three days of training and then just sort of was off from the gate at a run. Fast paced, dynamic and interesting.

Interview Details I filled out an application and then was called in for an interview. The lady who interviewed me was very nice in explaining what my job would entail and I was satisfied. I've been happily employed for over ten years at the same location. I would recommend working for the company to anyone who would like to work with books and meet and interact with intelligent people.

Interview Details Was pretty easy, practical except a full onsite for a technical recruiter interview. The interview with the team was pretty practical, felt like with a team member brainstorming and not too judgmental. The hiring manager who was pushed out later was pretty arrogant and undermining in every way. OR arrogant.

Negotiation Details – Pretty straight forward and the technical recruiter had a pretty good bargain without much effort for bargaining.

Interview Details You'll meet and interview with at least three people. The store manager, the district manager and the regional sales manager. All interviews will be different

Negotiation Details – Difficult. They told me the pay range and I ended up at the bottom because I didn't have any previous book experience. After three years of blowing my numbers out of the water they still refused to fight for me to get more money.

Interview Details I applied to Barnes and Nobles a while back but never heard anything. A month or two went by and I got a call for a interview. I did two interviews the same day with both the store and asst. store manger, both female by the way. I was told they had a few other people to look at but would get back to me. A week later I had a invite for a background check via email but was not called about it. I did it anyways and sent it in. Two weeks went by and I lost hope, that Monday I received a call from a DM asking to do a phone interview, he was nice thanked me for my time and told me they would get back to me one way or the other. Another two weeks went by and I again lost hope. I was called this morning and offered the job, I guess they had a hell of a time talking to my old Manager for some reason and it delayed the process.

Negotiation Details – None, they offered me what I was looking for.

Interview Details I seen a post on indeed and just emailed my resume. Took about a week or two got a call more like a phone screen. I was asked to come in meet Assistant Store Manager so I did. Interview was about 30 to 40mins long went pretty good. About week later I get a call asking me to come meet with Store Manager. I met the Store Manager I was really not impressed at all. More like a debate then a interview. Pay would of been around $12 to $14 bucks which was way to low then the $22 an hour I make. Pay is really low within Barnes & Noble unless your an Assistant Store Manager as the Merchandise Manager is beneath that position. With my experience in retail management I don't think I would take a pay cut for a book store. Word of advice to that Store Manager the Assistant Store Manager was worth my time not so much her. Don't work for a book store sooner or later they will be out of business look at borders book stores they all closed down. This one is on the next list... It seems like they always post a job in management must be that no one wants to last as it's not a good place.
