Booz Allen Hamilton Interview Questions & Reviews

Interview Details Following an initial screening call, I had a three part interview. In the first stage, I spoke with one interviewer who asked questions about my academic and professional background. In the second stage, I spoke with one interviewer who gave me a hypothetical situation I needed to create a communication plan for. In the final stage, I spoke with two interviewers who asked me about my experience as a consultant.

Interview Details Worked with University Recruitment Staff during the selection and interview process. Initial interview consisted of a general phone screen covering background, previous work experience, etc. After 2 weeks of waiting for a preliminary determination, the final interview was scheduled about a month after the process kicked off. The final interview consisted of a phone interview with 4 Booz Allen Hamilton staff asking a series of questions related to my career aspirations, experience working within teams, large scale projects that I had worked on in school or various internships, etc. The verbal offer came fairly quickly - 2 to 3 weeks after the final interview, but formal paperwork (a signed offer letter from a Partner) did not materialize until 3 to 4 months after the final interview. The particular recruiter I was working with was good at keeping me up to date regarding status of the formal offer.

Negotiation Details – I was given a range (based on my major and expected role within the firm) with the low and high value separated by 10k. Based on the strength of my previous experience, I was able to secure a salary only 2k below the max. None of the other 3 offers I received at the time (IBM, Capital One, Bank of America) came within 8k of Booz Allen Hamilton's offer, so I wasn't able to use any of them for leverage.

Interview Details its was very easy. not hard at all. you do not have to study all. make sure you know someone in the firm first before interviewing.

Interview Details This was an entry level position, so I did not get a lot of technical questions. It was more about whether I was somewhat capable of doing the job. Turns out, they just wanted to fill an entry level position. There wasn't much to it than that.

I wanted to know more about the position and whether I could actually do it, but I already did not know the technologies mentioned by the lead developer. Even though I didn't know them, as it turns out, I had enough qualifications on my resume. Namely my master's and bachelor's degrees in computer science.

Negotiation Details – I have never got a salary as good as the one offered; more than I ever expected. I was just asked, "Is that okay?" by the recruiter. If anything I was grateful to get a job. I still am, I just hope I will eventually get paid what I am worth given that I have found that it is 20% less than the median.

Interview Details Submitted my resume in late 2007, didn't hear back until early 2008. Once a recruiter got back to me, they scheduled interviews where I was brought in with a bunch of other people. It was a little awkward. I interviewed with 4 different people, though no case interview questions were posed. They basically asked me about my background and why I was interested in consulting.

Interview Details I hired in as a Senior Consultant and at the time the progression went from Researcher, Consultant, Sr Consultant, Associate, Sr Associate, Principal, Parter (Senior VP). Now the progress is Consultant, Sr Consultant, Associate, Lead Associate, Sr Associate, Principal, Vice President, Partner (SVP/EVP).

I was placed in a room and several people rotated in to interview me. They asked both situational and skills based questions, but not a case interview.

Negotiation Details – I had three offers on the table and I stated that my highest offer was 15% higher than what they were offering. They came back with a raised offer and a signing bonus, which put me slightly lower than my highest offer. I took the lower offer because of the future opportunities.

Interview Details I went to a few recruiting event at school that Booz employees attended to network and after applying was I had a hour long phone interview. After the phone interview I was brought in with a group of other students and I had a round of 3 interviews back to back. I received an offer about 2 weeks after my last interview.

Negotiation Details – I gave them a $20k salary range during the interview that was pretty conservative and was offered $10k less than the low end of my range. I asked for something in the range and was told, no. I was only able to get $5k more after telling them I would decline the offer without it. No bonus.

Interview Details The process itself was relatively easy once I had my interview, however coordinating with HR to get the interview took several weeks. I'm not entirely sure what the issue was, but I had almost moved on to another opportunity when Booz Allen finally interviewed me.

I had an initial phone interview with HR that covered the basics (my work history, interest in the particular job I was applying for etc), and a group interview comprised of what would become my fellow co-workers and management chain. I met with 5 people individually for approximately 15 - 20 minutes each. Most of the questions were focued on client delivery and what examples I could provide from my work history.

After the interview, it was about a week until I heard back from HR with an offer.

Negotiation Details – The negotiation phase was easy. I received what I requested which means I probably low-balled my offer.
