Director at Chartis Insurance Company

No Offer – Interviewed in Sep 2012 – Reviewed Feb 10, 2013

Interview Details I was contacted by Head Hunter and then HR team. First several phone interview sessions went well: they were professional including both very technical and behavioral questions, which made me try further. However, after that, many happenings occurred. First, the hiring manager forgot calling me even after very careful confirmation work among me, HR and head hunter; second, the hiring manager called w/o making appointment when I was in a meeting to my current board member; w/o any apology, the HR/Head Hunter persuade me to have a on-site interview, which was a start of jokes....

Marketing Specialist at Chartis Insurance Company

No Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 27, 2012

Interview Details I had a phone interview with the national recruiter who was very personable. Two days later she scheduled a 1:1 with the hiring manager. There, I was asked about my background, what I'm looking for and was given more details on the company, the positions and what they're looking for. I also met with the other Marketing Specialist on the team for insight on day to day operations. Both women were very nice and easy to converse with.

Claims Manager at Chartis Insurance Company

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Manchester, England (UK) Nov 2010 – Reviewed Oct 19, 2012

Interview Details Initial interview with UK claims manager to understand your skills and experience but also detail plans for the department if you were successful. Interview style was reasonably friendly and felt at ease with the interviewer. They took a while to provide feedback and follow up but people are busy so it wasn't an issue.

Interview Question – Nothing unexpected. How would you develop the team ethos, improve productivity, quality etc.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Offered two jobs at the same time and chose the other one. Nothing against the company but just had a better offer elsewhere.

Underwriting Intern at Chartis Insurance Company

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Boston, MA (US) – Reviewed Sep 30, 2012

Interview Details Interviewed for the Underwriting Summer Internship for the Boston Office.

Applied through my college career website--was just a resume drop.

I was soon contacted afterwards that they wanted to have a phone interview. The phone interview was very relaxed and lasted about 30 minutes. First, the interviewer told me a bit of Chartis and the position. Then, they asked fit/behavioral questions, why Chartis, why the internship, resume-related questions and so on. You do not need any specific (work/academics) background to prepare for the interview.

Within a week or two (can't quite remember), I was invited for an on-site interview (did not cover travel expenses). I went to Boston, interviewed with 3 individuals--managers. They talked to me individually, explained Chartis and insurance world. Then they asked me questions ranging from my resume/experiences, my coursework, my personality. It was very laid back. No pressure.

Enjoy the interviews and just be yourself!
