Intern at ConocoPhillips

No Offer – Interviewed in Lubbock, TX (US) Sep 2010 – Reviewed Oct 07, 2011

Interview Details Too many Anecdotal requests, "what would you do" "think of time when"

In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't receive an offer, because I couldn't stand to work with these people, the culture, and day to day grind in a cubicle in Houston.

Interview Question – A time when your ethics have been challenged.   View Answer

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Houston, TX (US) Mar 2011 – Reviewed Aug 20, 2011

Interview Details The first interview was on the phone and it was to find out what i know about the position that i applied for. The second interview was in person with the supervisor, team lead, and business partner. It was to get to know about my background and what i know. A situational scenario test was administered to see what i did in a particular situation. There was no personality test and nothing concerning my personal life.

Analyst at ConocoPhillips

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Apr 2011 – Reviewed Jul 05, 2011

Interview Details Interview was more in depth than most. Consisted of questions ranging from ethics to leadership, all in a conceptual format. There was nothing really related to the job itself, they just wanted to see how you perform in certain situations and how you can talk. Ended up getting the offer, but not in the office I had gone into the interview expecting.

Interview Question – What is the most difficult situation you have ever succeeded in?   Answer Question

Intern at ConocoPhillips

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2009 – Reviewed May 18, 2011

Interview Details Applied through the university website, got a call and interviewed with them. They were really friendly and made me feel comfortable. I originally applied for an upstream position but I was interviewed for a downstream position as they did not need an electrical engineering intern in upstream. The interview consisted of general behavioral questions.

Interview Question – Tell me about something that you have learnt in school but applied outside in your personal life.   Answer Question

Mechanic, Instrumentation at ConocoPhillips

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Linden, NJ (US) Jan 2011 – Reviewed May 15, 2011

Interview Details The hiring process was quite grueling with several rounds of personality testing interspersed with skills testing. This was followed by an in depth background check, a full physical, and a "kinetic ability" test. The company wishes to hire the best, most skilled individuals for any open positions and goes through the trouble to make sure the proper candidates are hired.

Interview Question – If you were stranded on an island wit these individuals(group work), how would you rank the importance of these items for survival?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There was no ability to negotiate due to union rules.

No Offer – Interviewed in Houston, TX (US) Apr 2011 – Reviewed Apr 02, 2011

Interview Details Applied online and then haven't heard from them for a while. Finally I got an email asking about the availability for a phone interview. I have responded with the date and time and again haven't heard from them until the time I gave them in the email. The interviewees called me without previous confirmation. I was told they would let me know about the outcomes - again, lack of communication... haven't heard from them since then.
