Cashier/Hospitality at Dairy Queen

Accepted Offer – Reviewed May 10, 2013 New

Interview Details Basically, my friend (who works at Dairy Queen) told me they were hiring so I went in, filled out an app, and gave my name to the manager. About two weeks later I got a call for an interview. I came in after school on Monday and met one-on-one with the manager. She went over all the basic rules: dress code, hours, job duties, etc. She said if I was hired I should be expecting a call Friday. Well, sure enough, I got the call Friday saying I would be brought onto the team.

Interview Question – Why should we hire you? (All of the other questions were extremely easy and could be answered concisely)   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I just accepted the job because I haven't worked since December and need to start making money some way or another.

Team Member at Dairy Queen

No Offer – Reviewed Mar 23, 2013

Interview Details I saw an ad on kijiji for a DQ job fair and attended. As I entered the location, I noticed there was a very long line into a single room. I waited for four hours until they finally got to me. When I entered the room, it was set up like American Idol. One long table with three interviewers, and one single chair for me in the middle of the room. Talk about pressure! So I sat down and they ran through a series of typical questions and it was very rushed. I could tell they just wanted to get everyone over with quickly. It lasted about 15 minutes, then I shook each of their hands and left.

Interview Question – What makes you different from the crowd outside that door?   Answer Question

Crew Leader at Dairy Queen

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Herminie, PA (US) Mar 2009 – Reviewed Feb 27, 2013

Interview Details My location gets a lot of applications, so I'm pretty sure I only got a call because I had a connection. I turned in the application, got a call after about two days to come in for an interview, and was hired on the spot based on my open availability and normal level of intelligence and social skills. I started the following day, and upon walking in, I did feel a sense of community and fun between the crew members.

Interview Question – So you don't have any activities limiting your availability?   Answer Question

Assistant Manager at Dairy Queen

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Sullivan, MO (US) – Reviewed Jan 14, 2013

Interview Details Very typical for interviews. Asked about prior experience, what I hoped to gain by joining the DQ team, what my strengths and weaknesses were.

I thought it was weird I was asked if I possessed reliable transportation. I get that they want to make sure you can make it to work, but if they refused to hire me if I said no, I'd be upset. It's not like I can't figure out a way to get there without a personal vehicle.

Interview Question – "Do you have reliable transportation?"   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation

Chill Staff/Hospitality Staff at Dairy Queen

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Dec 2012 – Reviewed Dec 17, 2012

Interview Details I had filled out an application online. Almost a month later, I got an email from a manager saying that they are now reviewing all applications, and if you are being considered, you will receive another email about coming to an interview.
So about a week later, I got an email asking to come in for an interview.
It was at a hotel, and we could show up any time within a 4 hour time frame.
I went halfway through.
I showed up at the hotel, found the room they were doing the interview in.
Inside of the room there was a check-in table.
Once you got checked in, they walked me over to an interview (there were about 4 tables, each had one interviewer).
He looked at my online application and my resume.
He asked about my availability and,
"Why do you want to work at Dairy Queen?"
He then asked 3 scenario questions.
Afterwords, he asked if I had any questions, and I asked him about 4.
Then it was over.
It was only about 6 minutes long, it was very fast.
On the car ride home, about 20 minutes after I left I received a phone call saying I got the job!

Interview Question – "If you made a mistake on a customer's order, what would you do?"   Answer Question
