Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Bluffton, SC (US) Apr 2013 – Reviewed Jun 15, 2013 New
Interview Details I was called for an interview by the store manager, however she was not there when I arrived, so I met with the Assistant Manager. He was very nice, but seemed somewhat unfamiliar with the interview process. We spoke for approximately 15 minutes, and he said that the manager would contact me.
Interview Question – His questions seemed rather vague and general. Nothing stands out. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There was nothing to negotiate. It was definitely a "take-it-or-leave-it" situation.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Aug 2012 – Reviewed Jun 13, 2013 New
Interview Details I applied online and received a phone call about a week later. The manager asked if I could come in for an interview. The interview was very informal. I was not asked any questions except if I would like to work there. The manager talked about the store and what I'd do, and mentioned the low pay.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Aventura, FL (US) Mar 2012 – Reviewed Jun 03, 2013
Interview Details Iterview process was really quite easy. There were never any questions concerning the actual position. Never even asked if I could do floral design or if I was trained as a floral designer. There was a question about the amount of hours I could work but this did not really matter because you were never schedule very many hours.
Interview Question – Michaels has a mission statement to become a World Class Company but it seems they are not equipped to stand behind the standards they present and what truely is accomplished. View Answer
Negotiation Details – No negotiation. I was limited by how much I could make because I am already retired so the offer of slightly over minimum wage was fine with me.
Accepted Offer – Reviewed Jun 03, 2013
Interview Details The interview process is a fairly simple one. The hiring manager will ask you a few questions about your feelings on customers and waking up early in the morning. Replenishers turnover very quickly, you will be hired as long as you're persistent and accommodating.
Interview Question – There will be no difficult or unexpected questions. The hiring process is very vanilla. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There is no negotiation phase.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Aug 2012 – Reviewed Jun 03, 2013
Interview Details My interview process was pretty laid back, and easy. Basic questions about experience, and clarification of availability. The hiring process was long (we had to watch several slide shows educating us of company history, safety procedures, etc.), but not too difficult. Even though it was long, there was no hands-on training until the very first day of work.
Interview Question – Questions pertaining to how you think others judge you or your character. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not a mind-reader. I didn't want to sound arrogant in answering them, but I also didn't want to under-rate myself. Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Palm Desert, CA (US) Nov 2011 – Reviewed May 22, 2013
Interview Details Filled out the application and assessment online, I was called about 3 days later and asked if I wanted to come in for an interview. I was told to wait in the "classroom" and the manager showed up after about 10 minutes. She just asked me to "tell her about myself" and then tell her about my past jobs and then she asked if I would like the job. It was the easiest interview I've ever had. No drug test either.
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Palmdale, CA (US) – Reviewed May 20, 2013
Interview Details
The interview was very easy, and they expect to see some pieces you've made. I got the job easily, but realized there was a catch.
In order to obtain students you must DO YOUR OWN ADVERTISING. This means making posters and hanging them around the store. One girl was very good at it. She had crocheted samples on her posters. This would be ok with me except jewelry crafting is expensive. It was a lot of work to me.
As for training, it is online and takes a little while. Be prepared to print A LOT. But overall fairly easy.
Interview Question – N/A. I got the feeling they were desperate for a teacher. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – I did not want to advertise myself.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Mandeville, LA (US) Sep 2011 – Reviewed May 17, 2013
Interview Details I was questioned on where I had worked before and after finding out I had an art degree, what my hobbies were. On my first interview, it was the customer experience manager who interviewed me at the time. The second time, it was the store manager. He asked if I would be interested in working in the frame shop. I told him I was, to which he replied that they would train me on the register first and then move me to framing. That's when I found out I was hired and what my hourly wage would start off at.
Interview Question – Where I saw myself in a few years. I answered that I was looking to go back to school, which was the honest answer at the time but now, I'm not so sure. It just hit me personally, I suppose. Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Oceanside, CA (US) Feb 2013 – Reviewed May 16, 2013
Interview Details I filled out an application online and got a call 6 weeks later. The manager of the store near me said they get 100s of applications and that when they need someone, they go to the apps online. The first interview was an unexpected group interview with 7 other applicants. It lasted an hour. I was called for a one on one interview.
Interview Question – Who was your favorite person to work with and who has been the worst Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Sparks, NV (US) Apr 2013 – Reviewed May 15, 2013
Interview Details
Filled out the application online. The applications asks open-ended questions like "Why do you like arts and crafts" and "describe the best customer service you've ever received". It then puts you through a 12 page personality assessment and a timed quiz on basic math and reading comprehension.
I received a call a few days later and came in for an interview. It was a basic one-on-one interview with one or two behavioral questions. It was more of a "let me get to know you" sort of interview and the interviewer asked what sort of crafts I did and asked "for a little bit about myself" so I explained I was going to school and that I've recently moved to the area. She also wanted to make sure that I was a good multitasker and really stressed the need for that skill in the position I was being interviewed for.
I then received a follow up call a few days later for a second interview. It was supposed to be with another manager but he had an emergency so the interview was very short. I was asked to describe a time where I was expected to accomplish a lot of tasks in a short amount of time, again stressing the need for a good multitasker.
Received the final call and was hired
Interview Question – It was very easy and basic. She asked me what movies I liked which I wasn't really expecting (though easy to answer). Answer Question
Negotiation Details – None as it was my first job
Pros: The work can be fun. I have enjoyed learning a specialized skill, and it never gets boring as there is always an excess of work to do. This is a job that requires design talent and artistic knowledge, so if you have that, this is a job where that is… – Full Review `
