    I have been working at Brink's, Incorporated full-time (more than an year)


    Trucks are the best in the business.

    Best uniforms in the business yet you'll realize that this is all Brinks has going for it. Another guard said it the best and I totally agree with him... Brinks is a "Great Company to Throw Your Life Down the Drain With."

    If you'r hell bent on wearing a firearm, getting none of the training, pay, or incentives necessary for (owning) such a risk, then Brinks is the place for you.


    Extreme micro management where the only trickle down effect felt by guards and drivers is constant pressure that's vented onto them from managers who are also constantly pressured and vented on. Managers are often brought in and do not have skills essential to the discharge of duties we do daily. Some struggle to understand how their actions or lack of actions affect the boys and girls making pick ups and deliveries everyday. When this creates arguments of hostility or suggestions for improvement the majority of the time managers take it as a personal slap to their face.

    Low low pay when you realize you'r a moving target all day everyday. One that has NO back up because you'r driver is trained to leave in the event an incident takes place. Once you are atm certified you will be the best target off all. You become the target that has its back presented for large sums of time, all while large amounts of cash are visible to any passerby. You don't stand a snowballs chance in Diablo's paradise to draw you'r weapon in time when your the poor bugger pulling atm cartridges. Don't even try asking you'r manager for additional staffing during the holidays when risks sky rocket they look at you cross eyed when you suggest such a rational thing. Why? because it won't be their body in a casket but yours, and I am certain at your funeral they will give your family the same crossed eyed expression when they ask if the company covers funeral expenses.... which they don't.

    Low pay would be acceptable if GREAT hands on defensive training was taught. But this a false paradigm people hold of us, but is the farthest from the truth. You basically get four days of training. Two going over company policies and driving policies where you are basically given the impression you'll be fired for anything you do that is slightly wrong. One day you spend on Transportation Administration training, and the last day you spend on range training so you can carry a firearm.

    I say carry because that is all the class is designed to do. The class is just a basic concealed carry class. You don't learn very much after that in regards to safety, security, or defensive tactics, because in the mind of Brinks you'r nothing more than a Mailman (that gets paid less than a real Mailman) which carries a gun.

    Routes and route schedules are constantly changing and are never on time. You will never know when you start work or when you get off. There are far to many factors affecting your schedule: weather, partners (time pimpers/slackers, inexperienced, or unfamiliar with area/route), call in/offs, late arrivals, clients not ready for pick up/delivery, traffic, building construction, and the list goes on.

    Communication is very poor at all levels. You will never know anything and when you are told things you are often given the wrong information on purpose or through ignorance.

    Promotion opportunities are a laughable joke based on propaganda

    All you should know is that professional level attitudes and philosophies do not exists in Brinks culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Revamp the whole thing from top to bottom
    Increase training and safety awareness
    Pay your people more we get killed for your darn profits!
    Allow your lower level staff a piece/stake in your company
    Allow your low level pe-on's good benefits
    Bring back 3 man crews for safety
    Bring back shot guns we can handle them and bad guys respect them------ Increases safety---- see how common sense applies ?
