    Current Employee - Assistant Manager

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (more than a year)

This is a excellent first job for someone applying to be a cashier. Dollar Tree has a very simple register that is easy to learn. Training is easy, just basically do as your told. During the day you run the register and stock whatever merch. the manager gives you. At night you recover the front end of the store while the manager recovers the rest. Keeping the front of the store clean is a must.

Work-life balance is okay for cashiers. Cashier's max shift is 4 hours a day. Management is at the store anywhere between 5-8 hours a day. There aren't many (or any) perks when working for Dollar Tree. There really isn't any room to "grow" in the company. Many start out as a cashier then leave as a assistant manager. You may become a store manager, but it is really hard. You have to travel & take tests etc. The pay is just whatever your states minimum wage as a cashier. As a part time assistant manager (my pay was) just $1.40 more than minimum wage. As a full time assistant manager it's about $2 more than minimum wage. Store managers get a salary pay so I don't exactly know how much that is. You also get paid every 2 weeks on a Friday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've personally only met one person that was above my store manager and he was quite nice. Very understanding and kind but wants everything to be done the right way.
