I have been working at FairPoint Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

The pay is very good, benefits are decent, and vacation time is ample. There is the opportunity to expand this company beyond DSL and land line service but that is uncertain at this time. The company has downsized their footprint with both reporting locations and fleet vehicles. New vehicles are being added which helps to boost employee morale.

If you have a high work ethic you will find yourself at a crossroads as you try to maintain efficiency but are hampered by the lack of organization and ability by managing bodies. Effective communication is greatly lacking within the company and the managing body as a whole is aging and has a "old" way of thinking. In most cases there seems to be a serious lack of any communication or management skills which degrades employee morale and hampers work efficiency for the end user. As a result of this often times workers are the subject of derogatory comments and gossip as a direct result of management's lack of ability or competence. This behavior further compounds the consistent negative outlook that so many employed here share.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicating effectively with your peers and co-workers would go great lengths to bettering the work environment. Trim the excess amount of aging management that still is within the company, freeing up room for forward thinkers and help to enable a positive work environment. Push fiber optic internet service to Manchester and the surrounding areas.
