    Pros

The hiring process is very easy and straightforward. Training can feel overwhelming because inventory is not in a computer system. It is very old school and you must commit products (and sometimes prices) to memory, but there isn't very much that is difficult about working for Hobby Lobby after the first few months of settling in. The company treats their employees very well compared to other retail chains. Full-time employees with a few years under their belt may find themselves making a surprising amount of money.

    Cons

Employees are required to work every other Saturday. This shift is 12 hours if not more and is non-negotiable. If you need a Saturday off and it is one that you were supposed to work, you will have to switch shifts with another employee. During Christmas it is possible that you will have to work every single Saturday, alternating between opening and closing shifts. If the store is open on a Holiday you are more than likely going to be working if you are a part-time employee. Expect to work long shifts and invest in good shoes because you will be on your feel actually working the entire time. All employees need a general knowledge of every part of the store. People working in departments are often called up front to work registers when lines get too long and when things are slow cashiers are asked to work in departments or in the warehouse unpacking inventory. Don't even be mad about the no phone policy because you won't have time to look at it. Managers make a fair amount of money but when you consider the amount of hours but in the salary doesn't really match up. You're better off on an hourly wage at Hobby Lobby.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your managers the proper way to schedule employees. Shifts don't make sense and too many times there are too many people scheduled during the day shift but multiple departments are left closing without an employee in them causing strain on the rest of the staff scheduled for the night. This is particularly troublesome during the holidays.
