I have been working at Met Office full-time

    Pros

    1) Met Office is a Civil Service and therefore it comes with the Civil Service Pension - one of the best in the world. Trust me when I say this as I have worked in three different countries for four different organisations.

    2) Flexible working condition - it is so flexible that a small portion of the staff don't do any work at all.

    3) A very strong Union. They may not negotiate a good deal for high performing staff but ensure that the poor performing staff are protected.

    Cons

    1) When it comes to climate change, the research goes into hiding. Acts as a propaganda machinery for the government on climate change issues.

    2) Just because they are the first ones to try something new, someone has to tell them, they are not necessarily the best.

    3) It is unfortunate that each and every staff thinks they are nobel prize winners.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They know what they are doing. It is just that they pretend to do something else.
