I have been working at SRA International full-time (more than 3 years)

I work offsite. My local supervisor is great. The people I work with onsite are great, very professional, supportive, etc.

Overall: SRA signs my checks. That's about it. If SRA loses the contract I work on, I will move to the winning company without any regrets unless the contract change occurs before the end of the year.

Benefits: 401k matching contributions are only paid at the end of the year, so if you quit, get fired, lose your contract, etc. you get nothing. You also don't benefit from the interest earned throughout the year. In other profit-centric cost cutting measures, SRA management postponed merit increases last year by several months as a one time cost saving effort. It's probably similar in other big contracting/consulting firms, but frequently shifting costs onto employees doesn't inspire loyalty.

Opportunities: SRA's expertise is in staffing and securing and managing contracts, so opportunities for advancement appear to be limited to those areas. There appear to be zero opportunities to advance within SRA as a technical subject matter expert.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I regularly shop for a better company. Reversing the steady decline in benefits, paid time off, number of holidays, etc. are things that would inspire confidence and loyalty in SRA. At present, I don't feel like SRA benefits me at all. It is because of my work and expertise that SRA maintains my current contract. In return for dealing with the taxes and perks, SRA takes about 2/3 of the billable dollars and gives me about 1/3 in pay and benefits.
