    I have been working at Staples part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    I worked here for over a year.

    My co-workers are great.
    Good with time off.
    Mostly good customers.
    Learn a lot about technology.
    Get some good friends.

    Cons

    First off lets talk about management. I have two great managers that have realistic expectations and reinforce these expectations in a positive and encouraging way.
    The other two on the other hand use fear. They talk down to you and never encourage you. They never smile and even to the customers they'll talk down to, as if they're gracing the customers with the time. Very arrogant.

    Workload is unrealistic for individuals.

    They don't care about your personal schedule, even after making it clear you have certain times you absolutely cannot work, they'll schedule you which leads to a racket.

    Every six months you're supposed to get a review and raise. They're late giving it, I've been here for almost a year and a half and I still haven't had my review for my one year.

    Training is almost non-existent. Management teaches new comers nothing, and when they ask management for help, they get angry. The trainees have to rely on co-workers for the simplest tasks.

    Pay, benefits, discounts and breaks are unclear.

    Discounts hardly cover taxes.

    Breaks are almost non-existent.

    Management only cares about the sale, not the customer or the employee and will yell at you repeatedly if you cannot get a warranty.

    Employees at my store talk about quitting after just a month of being there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    We're only human, you can't expect us to know everything from the get go and let's face it. We can try our best but some people just don't want warranties.
    Keep the workload reasonable and try to care for your employees and customers.
