Not the best pay but many good managers/directors

I have been working at University of Texas at Austin full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I have a lot of work-life balance working for the University of Texas at Austin. However, the ability to have that balance is largely dependent in the manager you have. I have had 4 different jobs here and all of my managers have been great. Every-so-often, I hear about a manager that isn't the best; that is a rare event, however.
Promotions are unlikely because very few people leave. Mostly, employees like it here. The pay could be better though...haven't had raises in quite a few years but that also depends on which college you work for.

    Cons

See my pro's paragraph for cons. It is all in there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to higher level management above directors-- pay attention to your employees. Let them lead from their positions. They have expertise that you probably don't since you are looking at and working on things from such a maco level.
