I worked at Children's Medical Center of Dallas

    Pros

Full benefits for full time employees, bonus shift incentives besides overtime, tuition reimbursement, a ton of different shifts to pick from when applying, and of course THE CHILDREN!

    Cons

Building personal relationships with some of the children and getting attached even though you know what the end result for some of them are. Sometimes it's really hard to say goodbye and leave at the end of your shift when they tell you that they love you. Another con is having to make your schedule so far in advance not knowing what will be going on in your personal life a couple months from now. Last con, they do not reimburse anything for receiving Diplomas or certificates (like at tech schools and such). If it's not a degree you have to pay yourself to get ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some managers don't recognize how hard you work compared to others and do absolutely nothing about the slackers after you have pointed out how much doesn't get done when you're not around. They usually don't go around and check who did what task even though they are suppose to so no one is held accountable when things go wrong. Stop having meetings and telling everyone to change and start paying more attention so you can get rid of the slackers. Also, everyone else has a week or a day to celebrate certain employees except the PCTs and PCAs. It wouldn't kill them to make a tech day since they do so much and some things that other people refuse to do and are also a vital part of the hospital.

    Interview Details

Lots of behavioral type of questions. Be very prepared. They like to ask you about past experiences, past mistakes, "what if" type of questions. The HR department is VERY slow with returning phone calls and emails. Just be patient and keep tracking down your application status. If you know someone who already works there, talk with them to get phone numbers and email addresses.
