National Income Life's parent company, American Income Life Insurance Company, was founded more than half a century ago with just $25,000 in borrowed capital, and today, with NILICO, the companies have become an international provider of supplemental life insurance to labor unions, credit unions, and associations.

American Income first appeared on the business landscape with a truly unique idea—developing a niche marketplace selling supplemental life insurance products to labor unions and working families in America.

What do I wear to my NILICO interview?

All of our interviews require that the candidates dress professionally (business attire).

 

What should I take to an interview?

You should bring a great attitude and at least two copies of your resume.

 

What sort of questions can I expect?

Questions will be based on your past work experience, career objectives, and work ethic. You should plan on spending one to two hours with us on the day of your interview.

 

Who will interview me?

Someone on the local State General Agent Management Team will conduct the interview.

 

How should I prepare for an interview?

Review your resume, and come up with questions for the interviewer. Make sure you are on time.

    I have been working at National Income Life full-time

    Pros

    If you have a strong drive, and are self motivated you will easily be successful. You basically are your own manager, so if you are strong willed and not prone to slacking off, this job is for you. The weekly pay can be amazing as there is no cap to your commission, and the monthly bonuses that some other employees (with the same job title as me) get are simply mind blowing. Once out of training you write your own schedule and are pretty much your own boss. This company is constantly growing and they are always looking for more managers. (Management pay is ridiculously stupid-as in a good stupid because the amount of bonuses they receive). If you just want to be a career agent you can work as little as 3 days a week or 6 days.

    The support here is amazing. Everyone from the front desk secretary, to the agent sitting next to you, to your manager, to the president/ceo is easily accessible, encouraging, and full of support. I've never worked for a company who's CEO was that present and responsive, so it's really encouraging and great to see.

    Once you get passed the amount of money you're making and realize what you're doing - protecting families- you'll realize that you have a pretty amazing career.

    Cons

    As stated previously the pay is really great. However, the job is 100% commission so you literally could be making $2,000 a week, or $0 a week. It is daunting and there is a learning curve at first, so its imperative that you hit the ground running.

    The company does give you leads of members who requested the benefits we have to offer every couple of weeks, but the leads I've experienced in my office are around a year and a half old...I've had plenty of people who don't remember requesting these benefits, just plain don't want them anymore, or are no longer insurable due to health conditions that have arose in the past year that it took for us to receive their information. You don't really get enough leads either to actually fill a schedule, it's really referral based, which you get taught how to do .

    There's a lot of driving involved- you're meeting families in their home where ever that may be...so lot's of wear and tear on your car (I lease so not that worried-except with the amount of miles i'm putting on)

    Some people can't handle the work/life balance, but if you know how to manage your time it really shouldn't be an issue. You have every sunday off, and yes, initially they want you working monday-saturday (saturday really being a half day), but once you finish training you're on your own time.

    The first couple weeks of training suck just because of the amount of hours you're working but it all pays off quickly.

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at National Income Life in July 2014.

    Interview Details

    Hit off monster, called set up an interview for a position not bases on commission (yeh right). I figured I'd go in for the experience , had a presentation on the computer ready to go. Fill out a sheet of paper asking about goals, experience, what you look for in a job. Only 4-5 questions asked. Took about an hour total. Nothing unexpected.
