Brands in the Nestlé Waters North America Family
Springs have always been gathering places. People believed that spring water – surfacing from underground, where it was purified by sand and rocks, to meet the light of day – was the cleanest source. Throughout history, mankind has settled near springs. The vessels in which they carried water to their dwellings – whether in hides or earthen jugs – were the earliest forms of bottled water.
Being tried and true doesn’t happen overnight. So many of our 15 brands have long stood proud of serving consumers for more than 100 years. These brands are steeped in a heritage of quality water, consumer trust and historic places. These brand names really mean something to people.
|Our history begins in 1976 when our company was formed to market Perrier® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water in North America, a beverage that launched a generation of bottled water drinkers. Perrier changed what people chose to drink and started a bottled water culture, appealing to active, health-minded individuals. Of course, Perrier’s history goes back much farther to ancient times when people began to prize the spring’s waters for their crisp taste and replenishing flavor.|
| ||In 1980, with the belief that bottled water would become even more popular as an alternative to traditional drinks, we began to seek other high-quality brand name waters with regional followings and a rich heritage. The first domestic bottled water brand we added to our portfolio was Poland Spring® Brand Natural Spring Water, first bottled in Maine in 1845.|
| ||In 1982, we added other regional brands to our line up: Arrowhead, whose mountain spring water comes from mountain sources in the U.S. and Canada, Zephyrhills whose Florida spring sources are naturally filtered through mineral rich limestone, and Ozark, whose natrual spring water draws its distinct flavor from several Texas natural spring. For each brand, we looked for quality product with a unique heritage and a distinct flavor.|
| ||Today, we have a rich selection of regional, national and even imported bottled water brands, each with their own distinctive character, sources and heritage. |
| ||Nestlé Waters North America is a division of Paris-based Nestlé Waters, the world's largest bottled water company. Nestlé Waters serves customers in 130 countries, with 75 well-known bottled water brands and is, in turn, a subsidiary of the world's largest food company, Nestlé, S.A, based in Vevey, Switzerland.|
We manage nearly 14,000 acres of natural watershed area around our 50 spring sites. At the sites, we carefully monitor water levels to ensure that they're being replenished. We strive to manage our spring sources not just for today, but for generations to come.
How much water do we use?If all the water in North America fit into a glass, the water used to make bottled water would be less then a drop. Selecting spring sources is a careful, thorough process. We perform a variety of studies and strive to communicate openly with the communities in which we operate. Maintaining spring sources and preserving the watershed where they are located is important to us.
