I worked at Orbital SciencesPros
They manufacture spacecraft at Dulles, VA where I worked. As an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects specialist, I contributed to a variety of scientific and commercial communications spacecraft. The work was challenging but intellectually rewarding. There is a casual, almost campus life atmosphere.Cons
Upper Management seems to be out of touch with the day to day activities, and places undue emphasis on what I call "New Age" management tools, like Daisen and 5S to name a couple. As an engineer, I had quite a bit of leeway in my daily work effort, but the technicians and assemblers in the Manufacturing and I&T areas are micro-managed.Advice to ManagementAdvice
