I worked at Red Lobster part-time (more than 10 years)

VERY flexible schedule. You get to pretty much make your own decisions as to whether or not you should offer free dessert or something if your guests are upset about something. Fast paced, fun environment. Opportunity to make close friends with customers and other employees. Ability to switch shifts with other servers whenever you want.

Unsatisfactory benefits-if you even work enough hours to qualify for them. A lot of your fellow servers are working here to make their "drinking" money. It's not their household money. Therefore, they don't take the job seriously. This means they do the minimal or slack off on their own duties--which means you pick up their slack. ENDLESS SHRIMP!!! Customers think it's a game to see if they can eat the most you've ever served. This means they are going to sit at your table FOREVER and then tip you like crap! A lot of menu changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The people at corporate obviously have NEVER served before. Some of the things they come up with are just ridiculous!! The managers at the store level that I worked with, for the most part, were awesome!

    Interview Details

2 interviews same day. Both managers were very nice and represented the company well. I got hired that day and came to work a few days later for my first day. Training process was not great and it took a long time. I had to take charge of my training. Trainers were more interested in gossiping then training.
