I have been working at University of Wisconsin-Madison full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Of course I can only speak to my experiences with CALS and the Department of Biochemistry. The work-life balance of UW-Madison employees seems more balanced than other academic spots. This seems to be the attitude across campus in my and other academic positions. There are plenty of resources and opportunities for those who seek, but promotions and internal work benefits are obviously dependent on the position and hierarchy of the department.

    Cons

No real cons that are general to the School. If you don't like the cold, this might be a problem.

    Interview Details

New interviewer with experienced predecessor. Generic classic questions you can find online. The interviewer was unsure and looked to the predecessor in questioning. I left the interview without even discussing my qualifications. I would not call this experience a professional one. I have worked in other establishments where talent specific qualities were identified and acknowledged. Here I did not get that feeling at all.
