I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness full-time

    Pros

You get to work at a gym where nearly everyone is excited to be there and work out. You also get a free gym membership. Way better place to work than others like LA Fit because of how well they treat the emloyees

    Cons

The sales pressure can be tough for the membership side of the house. Getting referrals and making calls can get really old really quick.

    Pros

Free gym membership. If you need to make a little extra money, great flexible place to work

    Cons

No room to grow at club level. If your plan is to move up in the company, you will more than likely have to re locate and not make a whole lot of money for your first few promotions

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness

    Pros

Ability to make lots of money fast. First month pulled in only about 1,500 while building clientele. Several months later making about 6,000 a month and promoted to Assistant Fitness Manager.

    Cons

Its a grind in the beginning. A lot of trainers give up or get discouraged thinking clients will be handed to them,

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They teach you how to run a business here. All trainers are put through a 5 week training course that teaches you the business of personal training. This is critical to build your client base and retain your clients. The skills and knowledge gained will stay with you through out your time in the company and long after you leave.

The people that work there are very nice and I have made some great friendships there.

The members are all generally good people and look up to you for help. It was nice to see someone actually listen to your advice and get the results they want.

    Cons

The pay is terrible. They claim that trainers are the "secret ingredient" but they are way under paid for the amount of work they do. The commission and hourly pay are lousy and this is the primary reason many excellent trainers will leave.

They took away commission for the sales counselors and that was a huge incentive for a lot of people. Managers are overworked and underpaid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your people like the real asset you say they are. Compensate them properly and you will see the retention of quality talent.

    Pros

Good client base and numerous clubs make either moving or advancing rather easy.
