Great company!

Kids Club/Service Representative (Current Employee)
Bedford, TX (US)

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness full-time for more than a year

ProsFree gym membership, coworkers like family, grew close to the kids and their parents and it's not a hard job at all.

ConsI go weeks without a day off and my gym is a bit on the older side so I'm getting constant complaints about the facility and there is nothing I can do.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit making new gyms and update the ones you currently have!

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Service Representative

Service Representative (Current Employee)

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness part-time for more than 3 years

ProsAmazing work environment with co-workers that are like family. Not too hard of a job if you're going through school and it is a fun job as well. You basically just have to be friendly and talk with all the members, along with some other small tasks.

ConsPay is not the best

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you are doing

Promotions only for a certain clique

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time for more than 7 years

ProsFree gym membership was provided

ConsPromotions are for those emplooyees that the company likes. A good ole boy network exists - if you did not work for Home Depot, hardly a chance for a promotion.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize your shining stars, they may be working in the lower echelons.

A great environment to work in as long as management is good at your location.

Kids Club/Service Representative (Former Employee)
Sunnyvale, CA (US)

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness part-time for more than 3 years

ProsLoved working with my coworkers; it really felt like a family.
Great opportunity for growth, you can move up in the company if you want to and are dedicated.

ConsThe company is so structured that managers have little wiggle room.
Many people in management positions have chips on their shoulders and do not respect their employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure that all of your employees know how valuable they are to you.

Personal Trainer PT 1

Personal Trainer I (Former Employee)
Seattle, WA (US)

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time for less than a year

ProsExcellent training and preparation
Inviting and positive work culture
Flexible work hours
Good pay

ConsHated the "salesman" approach to recruiting new clients
Very bottom line driven - all that matters is training frequency and selling large training packages
Management and employee base operated under different rules

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure procedures and protocols are known throughout work force and everybody is abiding by same framework. Veteran trainers seemed to get preferential treatment and were allowed to get away with things that I, as a new trainer, was reprimanded for.

Average Mid-Market Gym

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness part-time

ProsProfessional, great training opportunities, good regional management

ConsInstructors are too often forced into "bought" formats such as Zumba, RPM etc. It takes the freedom away from instructors to motivate and construct class in their own unique way.
