Cons – Start up, compensation, located in the burbs

Former Employee – worked at Acquia full-time for less than a year
Pros – Fun atmosphere, being a part of company that is growing rapidly. there are plenty of activities that work to bring the teams together, and plenty of free beer to fill those activities. For the most part there are a lot of great people there but that is changing quickly.
Cons – No work life balance at all and there is no room for error. They like to think that they are all having fun and it's great to be there but I think they do that to disguise the hours that you have to be there. Even if you are done with your work and have nothing to do, don't even think about leaving before 6:30. Even if it's a family emergency
Advice to Senior Management – Practice what you preach! and take sometime to work with your employees to reach a goal
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Acquia full-time
Pros – Great work environment. Very open, collaborative, free food and drinks all the time! Fun culture, monthly activities and team building. Friendly co workers.
Cons – Really a sink or swim experience. Somewhat overwhelming when you start and there is really no one to help you after onboarding. You kind of have to find your own way. There seems to be a lot of ego rolling around the office as well which doesn't help the communication among some of the staff.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Acquia full-time for more than a year
Pros – Acquia has some of the best people I've ever worked with: smart, passionate, and collaborative. Impressive customer base with hundreds of recognizable brand names. Dries is a terrific open source leader and maintains a high profile in the Drupal community. There's nothing like Drupalists -- great people overall.
Cons – Severe lack of focus makes exit via acquisition unlikely and poses challenges as the business scales. Significant revenue derived from low margin Professional Services.
Dictatorial senior leadership whose decisions can be erratic and based on personal friendships rather than solid research. Leadership's micromanagement and belittling of employee's ideas leads to conflict avoidance in much of the organization.
Very little tech representation on leadership team.
Drupal is showing its age and facing challenges bringing in new contributors.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on fewer products. You have great employees. Trust their judgement and ideas.

Former Employee – worked at Acquia
Pros – Great work atmosphere; opporunities to learn new technologies; lots of fun events; dynamic leadership; great growth potential for the company; flexible work timings and unlimited snacks and drink!
Cons – Company sponsors H1B visas in very rare cases; Acquia has some of the best Drupalists as a result, you feel overshadowed sometimes as a fresher; doesnot care much about temporary employees; Sometimes appreciation for good work is non-existant!
Advice to Senior Management – Acquia is an awesome place to work and learn all in all; and, as a result, I would still give the company a 5* rating!

Current Employee – been working at Acquia
Pros – When I first came to Acquia from an inside sales job at another high tech startup, I didn't know much about Open Source, nor Drupal. I now feel like I'm on the fastest pace rocket ship that I've ever been on! Drupal is used on over 1,000,000 public facing websites, and Acquia is perfectly positioned to be one of *the* next generation Web companies in the World, to take advantage of this trend. Our sales team has over achieved its goals every quarter that I've been here, - by 2X some quarters. In fact, the Management team set a bar for the Company to achieve a "super stretch" goal - and offered a trip for the entire company - and we just hit that goal! The people are great - a consummate team atmosphere, the management team is extremely supportive & helpful, and the culture is very dynamic & open. I feel blessed to be here.
Cons – One of the only downsides is that it's so much fun to work here, it is hard to disconnect at night and on the weekends! But I guess if you love what you do, it's hardly a downside.... I guess the only other thing is the Woburn location. Would be nice to be a little closer to the City.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing exactly what you are doing. You have made Acquia a highly desired place to work.
