Great support from station managment but not from corporate management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThey offer great medical and 401k match programs. Flight benefits are great too. The employees care about one another like a family.

ConsStation employees work long hours and are paid low wages because their union is not strong in comparison to other airlines.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake hiring/firing decisions with employee's needs and ramifications to them as your focus instead of over-valuing the financial implications to the company.

    Alaska Airlines IT - Unraveling

IT Senior Level (Current Employee) Seattle, WA (US)

ProsWork life balance is a Pro. This is very helpful if you want to work with folks that only do 40 hours/week. It's also a friendly work environment (to its detriment).

ConsIt's not a place to go if you're interested in being treated as a profession IT person. Recommendations are only given value when it comes from an outsider under the guise of Consultant.

Very little is expected of the personnel. This leaves an environment riddled with issues and a leadership team that is not truthful to upper level management. It's the Emperor Has No Clothes moment.

There are many managers/directors here that is much more focused on fear and not making mistakes. Therefore, we have many systems experiencing technology debt.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your good people.

IT Project Manager III (Current Employee) Seattle, WA (US)

ProsGood work/life balance and great culture. Great if you like traveling. Really nice people, friendly upper management.

ConsLower paid. They don't invest on their people, technology or development. But that probably comes with the industry.
