Pros – There are a lot of very good people who work for this company. Most employees are very helpful and willing to go the extra mile
Cons – Poor Management
Stressful working environment
No work-life balance
Extremely political environment
Tremendous backstabbing
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your employees. Management needs to take responsibility for their own poor decisions instead of blaming others
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at AmeriGas Partners full-time for less than a year
Pros – An adventurous way to spend the winter months! If you have a CDL B license and HazMat, they'll provide training and ride-alongs to get you up to speed. Then you're on your own filing residential and commercial tanks and doing leak checks. The overtime hours, depending on the route, can be substantial and add a tidy sum to the paycheck. They can also be very physically draining. The trucks vary from old operable relics to nice new ones. As a new driver, you can guess which one you'll start with. Management is fair in dealing with employees, they provide the basic equipment (gloves, coveralls, safety glasses) and overall camaraderie is good.
Cons – An accident or property damage of any sort, regardless of whose fault it is or how trivial it may seem, will most likely land you in hot water. Being on call 24/7 for a week at a time goes with the territory. Delivering motor fuel and ACE cylinders is physically exhausting and may lead to repetitive motion injuries. Truck and pump noise may lead to hearing loss.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize that drivers are busting their tails to get the job done in extreme and often dangerous conditions and environments. Be more responsive when they're in a fix and need help.

I have been working at AmeriGas Partners full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Have many great people working there
Cons – Sr. Management is only focused on money. High pricing. While SR. management continues to receive bonuses annually....large bonuses, employees go without, get minimal payraises, and have to reach unrealistic goals to get even a small bonus. Employees hours are cut during summer, but large bonuses continue to go to upper levels
Advice to Senior Management – Without customers, we have no business. Price fairly. Without employees, we cannot service customers. Instead of giving upper levels huge bonuses, share the wealth that actually do the hard work and get the gas delivered.

I have been working at AmeriGas Partners as a contractor
Pros – Plenty of work available, including overtime
Cons – You WILL get hurt. They WILL fire you.
They only hire "seasonal" drivers. If you take a job as a seasonal you will get minimal training and then tossed into a truck to throw bottles. They job primarily involves delivering propane grill bottles to Home Depots at night. Right away they will expect you to deliver hundreds of bottles per night. This is EXTREMELY physically demanding. Most people are not used to this amount of physical labor and there is no time to get used to it or work your way up to it. You must lift bottles from above your head and place them on the ground well below your feet (while standing on a step on the side of the truck). You will have to do it over and over and you WILL get hurt.
If you report your injury or are forced to go on light duty THEY WILL FIRE YOU!
Make no mistake about it. this is a churn and burn job. They use you up and then toss you out the door. Do yourself a favor and DONT DO IT! The injuries (many permanent) are not worth the money.

I have been working at AmeriGas Partners
Pros – A lot of opportunity to learn new technologies because a lot of Techs are so busy and over worked.
Cons – Morale is horrible.
Do not trust what you are being told.
People are only out for themselves.
Nobody is held accountable for their actions and a lot of finger pointing.
They do not like people with opninions.
No remote work.
Very, very political.
No appreciation you can never do enough.
If you don't play the game your never going to succeed.
Advice to Senior Management – As far as IT, hire managers that actually have a strong Technical understanding of their area. Unqualified and unprofessional managers and leads. Sr. Management should beware of false info and do some investigating on their own. Possibly speak to the engineers or analyst and not the leads and managers.

I worked at AmeriGas Partners
Pros – A lot of great people at district offices. Most are long-term employees with excellent industry knowledge. They tend to be team players who have come onboard through acquisitions. Benefits are pretty good. If you are lucky enough to have a good manager, this can be a good opportunity.
Cons – Very minimal increases given during annual performance reviews. Middle management says they are accountable for many things, however district managers are almost always blamed and terminated instead. Long-term employees do not receive the respect that they have earned.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to what employees in the field are saying. Although they may not have an important title or a degree, they are the backbone of the company. Customers develop relationships with these employees, not with executives. Change the environment which you've created that causes employees to work in a constant state of fear that they may be terminated. This is distracting and takes focus away from safety. Develop an bonus program for hourly employees that is not based primarily on a system of measuring growth which is not equitable. Stop depleting your most valuable resource: employees with years of industry experience who are terminated without thought or any consideration given to how much time they have dedicated to you.
