    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, good values and ethics, nice coworkers. There is little turnover. People who leave are usually forced out.

    Cons

Not the most exciting or cutting edge place to work. Policies and practices can seem antiquated.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to save money by cutting corners in the wrong places

    Pros

Down to earth people. Generally good folks. Nice work/life balance.

    Cons

Absolutely zero career path development. You are positioned in the company based on how long you have been there. No middle management training. Lots of micro managing. Old school hierarchical management style. Fair amount of credit hoarding. Dingy work environment. In summary, a good place to retire but depressing if you have ambition and are used to a meritocracy.

    Advice to Management

Focus more (much more) on the employee. The next crop of recruits will not have the big carrot to stay and slog it out - aka pension.

    Pros

Unlimited budget, carefree environment, if you are looking to be lazy this is the place for you!

    Cons

Horrific Leadership, unskilled and educated leaders, good old boys club environment, favoritism, awful HR department, bends over backwards for union

    Advice to Management

Need to clean house and get the right people in the right positions

    Pros

Half decent pay and health insurance. Over time usually available, if you want it or not. Usually mandated. If Pensacola was paid as good as Alton, it would a great place to work with all the cons.

    Cons

Most of the management have never managed people. There are non management people working here for years and either don't know what they are doing or short cuts everything. As long as you show up, management doesn't care. If are a "buddy", you can do what you want. If you get on the bad side of your boss, you better make sure you do your job and don't offer them an excuse. Due to the union, it's hard to get fired but they will make you not want to come to work. Upper management will tell you they care while they are in town and forget about the issues when they leave. All they care care about are the numbers.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting people from within that do not any management skills. The people that are doing the job incorrectly is not their fault. It's your supervisors fault for allowing them. Please stop saying the budget doesn't allow things. I have friends that has waited on a certain group of management in two places and the company credit card always pays the bill. Listen to the people that work for you from time to time. Things roll downhill, if the supervisors do their job, the people below them will or have to do their job.

    Pros

    Good benefits and excellent compensation

    Cons

Changes that are made at the upper management level do not take into consideration the challenges that the front line supervisors and management teams will have to face to implement them. What was once a caring work environment has become hostile.

    Advice to Management

More honesty with your front line employees

    Pros

If you like wearing many hats within an organization, you will do it here. They pay pretty well and have pretty good benefits.

    Cons

Based on the pro, be ready to have ridiculous timelines to meet when trying to pick up your new responsibilities. They just went through a re-org and cut 40 people. So IT is running extremely thin.

Also, since they pay you fairly well, they think they own all of your time including after hours.. Its more normal to work 60+ hours a week then it isn't.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees and clean house on the people that don't know what they are doing. You just cut the top performers in IT. I hope you find a new group of good talent to help you as you move on.

    Pros

At least they are honest with you during training about what you are getting into, and they provide amenities to take the edge off the crappiness as much as possible.

    Cons

    1. You can't have a life. Don't ever make plans or buy plane tickets while working here.
    2. Customer service reps are just human shields for billing reps and supervisors who take their sweet own time to pull their weight.
    3. No time to catch your breath between calls.
    4. Mandatory overtime and having to work holidays.
    5. You have to sign on as a temp for the first three months, then probationary for another three, meaning it takes six months to become benefit eligible.
    6. Their software and databases are slow and frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Everyone at all levels in all departments needs to do their job and share the wealth. Callers are people, not checkbooks.

    Pros

    Good pay, benefits are competitive.

    Cons

Staffed reduced significantly in recent years. Budgets are quite small with little room for training and development. Not very progressive in terms of work time flexibility, innovation and programs that inspire people. People are not motivated.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people. Listen to their ideas and develop their talents to grow the company.
