Former Employee – worked at Apple full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Competitive financial compensation, but you'll never be busier in your life. You will learn more about customer service and managing relationships than you ever have before.
Cons – It's still retail at the end of the day. There is a glass ceiling. It's very difficult to get into leadership roles, and even harder, near impossible to go corporate. Only 2% make it to Corporate. So many talented people had to leave.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop brining in outside management. Promote your own people. Too many talented people have already left because they had to put up with political bs from ex-Gap, Pottery Barn, Old Navy managers who don't "get apple".

Current Employee – been working at Apple full-time for more than a year
Pros – Working at Apple truly does not feel like working at all. You are with people that truly love to be there and do not drag their feet in to work everyday. That feeling you get when spending time with family during a fun occasion or with friends at a party...this is what it feels like to work for and at Apple.
Cons – I have nothing bad to say about working for this fantastic company.
Advice to Senior Management – It's always good to speak to your team if they are in a rutt. Don't direct them on what to do...ask them how you can help them through it.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Apple full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Pays pretty well for retail. Training (when you can get it) and opportunities (if you have a supporter) can be good. Products and services are outstanding.
Cons – Political. Back stabbing. Cliques. Stores are crowded and noisy. Perks removed, apparently because of Steve Jobs. You definitely need to have an ally in management. Employees "spy" on each other in the name of "feedback." It's easy to get painted with the wrong brush. Rewards aren't as good as they should be for so many contributions to the bottom line. Like being in high school again.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't try so hard to find fault. Some feedback was completely bogus. You seem keen to jump on the slightest "mistake," often before getting all the facts.

Former Employee – worked at Apple full-time for less than a year
Pros – Products are amazing and they are some great people who work there
Cons – Company is cheap and they don't value work family life balance
Advice to Senior Management – stop the charade about driving for best products, when you are driven by Sales, $$'s and share price

Current Employee – been working at Apple part-time for less than a year
Pros – Challenging, dynamic, ever-changing, diverse work environment. Everyday you go to work, you go in thinking you're ready. The moment you hit the floor, you realize time and time again, there's no way you can truly prepare for what comes at you. You just gotta work hard
Cons – When you come back home, you feel pretty drained, That being said, it can also be a good thing since you'll get a good night's sleep.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing ... providing us such an amazing and accepting work environment.

Current Employee – been working at Apple full-time for more than a year
Pros – Excellent on the job training. Constant opportunities to upgrade. No egos, approach anyone at anytime about anything. When the internal tools are working, they are second to none. Suggest a great idea, no reason it won't get implemented. Focus on repairing relationships not just repairing technology.
Cons – Expected to resolve phone/ipad/ipod appointment in less than 10 min. Expected to resolve computer appointment in less than 15 minutes. Expected to multitask up to 3 appointments at the same time. Impossible, stressful assembly-line treatment. Unhealthy rotating retail schedule. Sometimes working 2 months without every getting a weekend off.
Advice to Senior Management – Schedule time to touch base with stressed out employees. The ones that make the most noise get the most notice. The quiet ones usually are the ones that require attention. 20% of your staff demand 80% of your resources.

Former Employee – worked at Apple
Pros – Great group of people that come from diverse backgrounds... You can learn a lot about the products, on a day to day basis. If you love Apple, this is the place to be at.
Cons – Meeting your personal metrics is a priority for the store - managers deny it, but it is basically a sales job... If your good at it, you'll last - if not, good luck.
Advice to Senior Management – keep looking at everything else that make great employees - not just the metrics. It's harder to measure... but that's what differentiates someone that loves to work there vs. someone that's just a great salesperson.

Former Employee – worked at Apple
Pros – Over, working at Apple Retail is an awesome experience. The training is fantastic and really thorough, the management are supportive and provide feedback constantly, and the people you work with are (for the most part) fun and easy-going. It can get crazy in the store at times because it's usually super packed with customers, but the facilities and processes that Apple has in place make it easy to get things done faster, simpler, and more efficient.
Cons – Growth is definitely there but you're constrained to the roles in a retail environment so eventually it seems there would be no were else to "grow".

Current Employee – been working at Apple
Pros – - Flexible Work Schedule
- Great Staff
- Great management teams
- Great pay
- Great philosophy
- Great work environment
- Feedback from employees is appreciated by management and acted upon
Cons – - Communication from Top to Bottom is sometimes lacking (however management knows this and is taking steps to resolve it)
- The place is surprisingly "mechanical" - lots of processes and procedures. Like they say, consistency is critical.
Advice to Senior Management – - Keep working with employees to come up with solutions for issues in the stores and the company.

Former Employee – worked at Apple
Pros – cool technology
High profile company
Apple is liked by consumers
cool discounts.
Being close to the leading edge of popular technology
Stores are centrally located
Decent healthcare benefits and discounted stock options
Chance to help people be creative by providing them with tools to enhance their creativity.
Cons – terrible schedule
Managers overpaid, underperform
Very busy stores, overwhelming
Recognition hard to get.
challenging work is not compensated fairly from employee to employee. Large disparities evolve in pay between members of the same team.
Lots of corporate rules and metrics you are expected to meet.
Security cameras keep close watch on staff, not customers.
Advice to Senior Management – Stay on the floor and support your staff
