I love my job, the public are amazing, it's what you make of them xx

Bus Driver (Current Employee) Tamworth, England (UK)

ProsThe pay isn't too bad, love the banter at work, at a point in the company where I am being acknowledged for my communication skills and and work with the community so am getting extra opportunities as a result. Also have two NVQ's which the company supported.

ConsMostly the shift patterns, would not have been able to manage had my children been young, the hours can be long.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember we have lives and families outside of work.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

has been an enjoyable one. has its ups and downs. needs improvement

Pcv Driver (Current Employee) Middlesbrough, England (UK)

Prosmeeting different members of the public, job security, love driving. being out and about rather then stuck in doors.

Conshave no social life. find it hard to balance work life and family life. feel you dont have much support from management, you are just a number to them. no job safety (meaning you are left on your own, if you encounter someone violent there are no inspectors about in the evening to help you out.

Advice to Senior Managementthink should get more benefits when working weekends and bank holidays. would like to be appriciated more. would like more training so if wish to pursue into management would have neccesary experience for the role.

    going down hill fast

Controller (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsWAS a great company to work for.

Constoo many very bad people with a title, they call them managers

Advice to Senior Managementsort out the day for day running and reduce the amount of managers that just turn up and BULLY the staff but when asked for advice, have to go to this meeting or another.
The CEO should get out and see the day to day staff, not the ones that have been cherry picked !

Arriva (Midlands) treated me extremely poorly

General Manager (Former Employee) Leicester, England (UK)

Prosextra 10 days of holiday I earn't through loyalty, other than that it's very difficult to remember anything else good apart from the people I worked with

ConsDealing with an Ops Director that regularly lied, promised the earth then denied what he said, and together with the MD set about destroying the network, selling depots and dropping wages for their own bonuses. Destabilizing the company by allowing competitors to grow handing them established routes. As a GM my comparable wage to other Arriva op cos was rubbish and without my OWN car would have been unable to complete my duties.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep to your word and value your staff

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
