I have been working at AutoZone part-time for less than a year
Pros – Easy job to do. Flexible hours. Good management. Easily work your way up to parts sales manager.
Cons – No incentive to sell. Will take a while to move past a parts sales manager.
Advice to Senior Management – Give some incentives to the red shirts to sell the products that gets you your bonus!

I worked at AutoZone full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The stock is steadily climbing. Very fun culture as a whole across all departments. CEO is in the building and very friendly. The organization consistently gives back to the community through various charities. Several volunteer opportunities.
Cons – A majority of the individual department leaders are unaware of what their subordinates do, making it difficult to evaluate you on your performance. In my experience, women tend to get stuck in their current position or passed over for promotions. It just depends on upper mgmt and who you work for.
Advice to Senior Management – Try to learn what it is your people do to meet the goals of the department and organization. Can't just delegate everything and then sit back and wait.
– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Cons – Customers assume you are automatically a high level mechanic
No discounts on good products
Low Pay
Horrible Management only looking for bonuses
Horrible hours
Advice to Senior Management – Managers only care about getting bonuses if they reach certain sales figures. they dont care about the employees

I worked at AutoZone full-time for less than a year
Pros – Interacting with customers and keeping busy, as well as installing certain parts, can be fun.
Cons – The pay is poor both for non-managers and managers. There are few incentives to move up in the company, and there is little encouragement and an abundance of criticism from upper management. There seems to be a lack of sufficient concern for providing help for customers, and more concern with making money for the much-higher-ups.
Advice to Senior Management – Maybe if upper management demonstrated a little more interest in the regular, everyday store employees who directly interact with the customers, they would see a greater level of customer satisfaction. I believe happy employees who are commended on their strengths as much as they are on their shortcomings are happier and more loyal to the company that they work for. Respect breeds respect.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Helping people with their problems - meeting people - Discount
Cons – The Zoners have become throw-a-way employees. You may sell $200 dollars of parts but if you don't sell the $1.39 packs, you are screwed. These packs and the checkout challenge are more important than helping the customer. Hours have been cut back so much that customer service suffers. I enjoy my job, just not who I work for. This is after over 11 years.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize that the Zoners are the most important thing in your store. We have to have some knowledge to do our job. I can go down the street to a convenience store and make more money.
