    Pros

Good people to work with. Many were very skilled at their work. Others should have been let go years before.

    Cons

Poor management. Did not get rid of the dead weight. It caused the good people to manage the work load of the lazier staff.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and reduce the non talented and lazy staff. Bring on new team members to uplift and rebuild the organization.

    Pros

Countless opportunities to lead and take on new projects, compensation package is very attractive, company has focused on and adopted Lean principles across the business to improve efficiency and yielding greater profitability, which reaps strong rewards even when Sales are soft. Business model is sound, strategy is appropriate, goals are now tightly matched to metrics and the metrics are kept up and managed continuously.

    Cons

Management is emotional and volatile, monthly calls with TOP 200 turn into screaming matches with lots of name calling, foul language, and knee jerk quick fix actions. Reporting calendar is so tight that getting quarter end reporting done to meet requirements requires inordinate amounts of overtime in a narrow but often repeated sequence with no recognition for the extra effort.....ever. The Materials Group seems to have better leadership than the RBIS Group.

    Advice to Management

Address and correct irrational and emotional behavior of senior leaders in RBIS mgmt. team. Turn over numbers should speak volumes about what's going on in that business.

    - High investment in R&D
    - Offers the flexibility to work from home
    - Understand personal needs
    - Pleasant work environment
    - Special Christmas gifts to all employees
    - Trips organised with co-workers
    - High learning opportunities

    Cons

    - Long lead time prior acting on ideas
    - Limited growth opportunities
    - Ageing work force
    - More investment in marketing initiatives
    - Attract young people
    - More attention to ex-employees

    Advice to Management

Keep an eye on the interns within the company. I am personally aware of 4 interns which were sacked after their period and found positions even with competitors. Recently, I spotted one position within the company and had the idea to return but after contact 3 HRs for additional info I did not hear anything back and decided not to apply.

    Pros

human resources management is based on strong values of being fair with employees. There are less and less companies fitting that description

    Cons

Like most larger organizations you have to navigate through some levels of politics. It is not over the board but you need to be aware of it to progress.

    Pros

Opportunities are abundant. Benefits are good. Coworkers are diverse and overall pleasant. Company focus on personal growth and development. Management encourages employees to strive for advanced positions within the organization.

    Cons

Business goals and priorities continuously changing. Working on multiple projects that are all top priority. Budget constraints often stalled or cancelled projects in midstream. Leadership turnover rate was high at times.

    Advice to Management

Management encourages employees to take risks, work outside the comfort zone, and aim for higher goals. The organization should take their own advice. Take a chance and do something big and different. The same procedures and processes will likely yield the same results. Why settle on that? No risk, no reward.
